My PS told me not to massage my implants ! Isn’t massaging necessary ?
breast implant massage
Sep 23, 2015
Thank you for your question. The latest generation of textured silicone gel implants do not require massaging. You are still very early in the postoperative period. As the skin and breast tissue swelling goes down, it gently stretches over time. The breast shape will become more natural and much softer. As always, if you have any concerns, contact your board-certified plastic surgeon. Enjoy you new breasts!

Pain after breast augmentation
Sep 18, 2015
Thank you for your question. You are still early in the healing process at 3 weeks. It is not unusual to have pain associated with movement, especially in the outer part of the breast. We frequently will place our patients on a muscle relaxer such as Flexeril for the first 1-2 weeks to help with the muscle spasticity that occurs from stretching. I also will underdissect the outer breast pocket to help keep your breast cleavage centralized during the healing process – the…
Returning to work as a RN after breast augmentation. How long should I take off?
Time off work after breast augmentation, RN
Sep 16, 2015
Thank you for your question. We perform many breast augmentation surgeries on local RN’s. They typically take one week off of work. Strenuous activities, such as patient lifting, are best not performed for 3 weeks after surgery.Upon their return, coworkers will frequently assist them the first couple weeks afterwards. Return to full activity is usually 4 – 6 weeks.Best of luck with your surgery!

Can a nurse perform Botox and Fillers?
Nov 3, 2014
Thank you for your question. While a nurse can perform your injections in Pennsylvania under the supervision of a physician, the patient needs to decide if this is the best choice for them. A recent large study demonstrated superior results and less complications when injections were directly performed by a physician. I always discuss the previous results, review my notes and photos, show exactly what product is being injected and state how much is injected at each site….
Can I go swimming in the Ocean 4 weeks after breast augmentation?
swimming after breast augmentation
Oct 7, 2014
Thank you for your question. As long as your incisions have healed well, there should be no problem going in the ocean to cool off. I would refrain from any vigorous activity such as lengthy swims or surfing for another 2 – 4 weeks. I also caution my patients to be especially careful to apply 30+ SPF sunscreen, as your chest and breast are much more sensitive to sunburn during this healing phase. As always, consult with your surgeon if you have any questions. Good luck and enjoy your new…
