Cost Of Women Breast Implants in Des Moines
I like to keep my prices very reasonable while at the same time not undervaluing the extensive time and focus I give to each breast augmentation. I charge an all inclusive fee of $4999 for saline or $5999 for silicone. (Justin Yovino, MD, FACS, Beverly Hills Plastic Surgeon)
Breast implant (agumentation) cost
When ever trying to price a plastic surgery procedure the cost will always depend on the individual anatomy. I always recommend a individual consultation with a plastic surgeon to find out your true costs.
The other important factor is what included in a price quote. Typically a price quote will include OR facility fees, anesthesia fees, and surgeon fees. Breast augmentation cost varies depending on the actual procedure performed and implants used. Des Moines Silicone implants cost more than saline.
There may be a need for other procedures such as a lift which can also affect the price. In general a breast augmentation ranges between $5500 and $7000 if only a augmentation is needed. (Chad K. Wheeler, MD, Spokane Plastic Surgeon)
Breast Implant Costs in Des Moines
The cost of breast augmentation surgery differs for each practice. There are many variables involved. It depends on the experience of the surgeon, whether the surgery is performed in an office setting or hospital (surgery center) setting, if a nurse is administering the anesthesia vs. an Anesthesiologist, what type of implant is used, etc.
The range in my practice would be between $5500-$7000 that includes all costs of surgery as well as all pre and post op appointments. Choose your surgeon based on the results he/she can show you. Ask to speak with other patients who have had this procedure performed.
Make sure you are comfortable with your surgeon’s experience and make sure that the surgery is performed in a safe environment. (Tom J. Pousti, MD, FACS, San Diego Plastic Surgeon)
Price varies with location
The largest variability on the cost for breast implant surgery is the geographic location of the individual patient. Some parts of the country, generally the East Coast and the West Coast are more expensive than the other regions of the country.
The other variability of the cost depends on whether the surgery is done in the hospital, outpatient surgery center, or doctor’s office setting. Generally the costs are higher if done in the hospital and under general anesthesia. The costs are lower if done in the doctor’s office under IV sedation.
Also, the cost also depends on the type of implants used. Saline implants generally cost less than silicone implants, but can achieve very similar effects. Estimates for cost generally varies between $4,000 to $8,000. Often plastic surgeons can give you a free initial consultation and inform you of all the costs at that time. (James Tang, MD, Houston Plastic Surgeon)
Des Moines breast implant costs vary
The cost of breast implant surgery varies between regions of the country. What doesn’t vary between regions is quality of the surgery. The cost includes the surgeons fee, cost of the implants, anesthesia and OR costs as well. Silicone implants cost more than saline wherever you go. Most plastic surgeons will be you a price range over the phone. (Randy Proffitt, MD, Mobile Plastic Surgeon)
Price of breast augmentation in Kansas is good!
In Wichita, KS, saline breast augmentation ranges from $3900-$4800 and silicone augmentation runs $5200-5700. A great advantage of living where the cost of living is low is the lower cost of offering a great procedure like breast augmentation. We see a lot of patients from from higher cost of living areas come to Kansas for the price advantage. (Amy M. Sprole, MD, Wichita Plastic Surgeon)
Cost of Breast Augmentation Des Moines: more than just implants!
Why is there such a difference in the cost of breast augmentation in Des Moines? Saline-filled implants are about $1000 less expensive than silicone gel-filled implants, but the cost of the actual implants is only one part of the expense.
There will be some variability in the costs of the facility (the operating room and staff) and the anesthetist. The greatest variability will be the surgeon’s fees. Surgeons with more experience and greater expertise in breast augmentation will probably have fees higher than others.
The lowest price is not likely to be the best value, particularly when it comes to something as important as your breast augmentation surgery in Des Moines. You will never regret paying a little more for a great outcome and a great experience! (Paul C. Zwiebel, MD, Denver Plastic Surgeon)
Do implants need to be changed?
Typically implants do not need to be changed unless there is a problem, i.e. rupture, contraction or mal-position.
Saline implants will not last a lifetime and when they deflate it is obvious. Silicone can last a very long time, but not a lifetime, I have seen silicone implants in place and problem free for over 40 years! (Jonathan Weiler, MD, Baton Rouge Plastic Surgeon)
Breast implants do not require “scheduled maintenance” or replacement every 10 years. In general, it is not necessary to do anything but enjoy them unless they cause a problem.
In your case, pain and new “air bubbles” probably warrants and evaluation by your plastic surgeon as these symptoms may indicate an issue with the your implants (Elizabeth Slass Lee, MD, Bay Area Plastic Surgeon)
Breast implants do not have to be replaced every ten years unless there is a complication.
If you are seeing a rash, you will need to see your Doctor to determine if this is implant related. Replacing implants every ten years is a myth, although warranty coverage may only last for ten years
If you have a rupture in a saline implant, you will know because the implant will deflate. Detecting ruptures in silicone implants is a little more difficult and requires an MRI or an ultrasound, whichever your surgeon recommends. Do, however, get this checked asap to rule out infection. (Otto Joseph Placik, MD, Chicago Plastic Surgeon)
There is no expiration date on your breast implants
Your breast implants are designed to last forever. Unfortunately, they probably won’t. There are three major reasons to change out implants:
- Implant failure: In the case of saline, this is generally obvious when the implants deflate. In the case of silicone gel, an MRI is often necessary to detect implant rupture. Implant failure is the most common reason for changing out your implants.
- Capsular contracture: If your breasts become excessively firm and unnatural in appearance, then surgery to release the tight capsule and replace the implants may be beneficial.
- Dissatisfaction with appearance: If you want to change implant size, implant type (saline vs silicone gel), or something else about your implants, then surgery may be beneficial.
The implants are under warranty from the manufacturer (Allergan or Mentor) for 10 years. However, this does NOT mean that they have to be changed out every 10 years.
If your implants are soft, intact, and look good, I recommend that you leave them alone. (Ronald Friedman, MD, Plano Plastic Surgeon)
Breast implant expiration
Breast implants do not expire. They last until they fail or they are no longer wanted. I have seen implants last 35 years but this is the exception.
These are man made object which generally fail at some point. On average they last about 10-20 years. I would recommend to any women who has had breast implants for more then ten years to go see a board certified plastic surgeon and get them checked out.
Problems caught early are much easier and cheaper to fix than problems that are ignored for a long time. (Chad K. Wheeler, MD, Spokane Plastic Surgeon)
Modern implants in Des Moines can last a lifetime
Newer generation of implants do not need to be replaced on a regular basis. Older generation from 20 years ago were found to leak after a certain amount of time and thus it was recommended to have them replaced every 10 years.
That is no longer the case. So unless you have a problem with your implant, or you WANT to replace them, you do NOT need to have any additional surgery. Do you have saline or silicone implants? (Martin Jugenburg, MD, Toronto Plastic Surgeon)
Breast dimensions and tissue quality are important factors when choosing breast implant sizes
Two important factors in choosing the right implant size are your breast dimensions and the quality of your breast skin and tissues.
The width of your breast will determine the maximum width of implant that can be used and the skin laxity or tightness is a factor in the type of implant that you can choose (ie. if you prefer a more forward projecting look with more volume and your skin is soft, then a “high profile implant” can be used.
If your skin is tight, then a high profile implant would not be a good choice). Review your desires with your board certified plastic surgeon and he/she should give you guidance in choosing the right implant.
Keep in mind that every woman will have limits based on their individual body dimensions and tissue quality, so it would be wise to avoid pushing the implant size above the capacity of your breast tissue to support it. A good implant choice will give you the best opportunity for a natural look. (Behzad Parva, MD, Washington DC Plastic Surgeon)
Body proportions will determine breast implant size
Breast implants are manufactured in different sizes, base diameters, and heights. There are low profile, medium to medium high, and high profile implants. Choosing size is best determined by assesing your individual body aesthetic and breast diameter. There are no wrong answers, but body harmony is ideal.
Tips for choosing an implant size: Wear a supportive, non padded bra to the consultation. Bring a white or black tight blouse with minimal designs or fluff to assess your body dimensions and proportions. Take the time to try different size and shapes of implants. Insist on trying the medium, medium high, and high profiles before deciding. (Raffy Karamanoukian, MD, FACS, Los Angeles Plastic Surgeon)
The size of the breast implants should fit you
When I interview a prospective breast augmentation patient, the first thing I need to get straight is how obvious an augmentation do they want. My experience is that most women don’t want a flashy augmentation. They usually want to go 1-2 cup sizes up to better fit their other proportions.
Patients with realistic goals always do well. When overly large implants get put in, the most common complaint I hear it that it is difficult to put on deodorant and shave the underarm area. With that in mind, I always measure the width of the patient’s breast at a point just above the nipple. Then I do a pinch thickness test to determine how much breast tissue coverage they have.
This last piece of information helps patients pick which type of implant (saline vs. silicone) works best for them. Patients with thin breast tissue do best with silicone implants in Des Moines.
If they have ample breast tissue then they can use either type of implant in Des Moines. The final aspect of the decision making process is to decide how much projection out from the body the patient wants/needs.
Implants generally come in three projection styles:
- Moderate
- Moderate plus
- High profile
When patients use the implant sizers in my office they give me an idea of the volume they would like added to their native breast tissues. I then take this information and determine how narrow their breast widths are. If they are narrow, they do great with high profile implants which push out more than get wider as you increase the size of the implant. This helps give them standing cleavage without forcing the implants out into the underarm area.
For wider breasts, you can use less projection to get the same overall volume increase. Your doctor should have charts from the implant manufacturers that they can show to you to help pick the ideal implant for you. (Manish H. Shah, MD, FACS, Denver Plastic Surgeon)
