Implant placement can be done either at the same day of extraction or after few months. Bone graft depends on bone quantity and It can be evaluated by taking a CT scan. It is not recommended to place an implant couple weeks after extraction.

You do not chew on dental implants. You can chew with restorations on top of dental implants and it depends on what kind of restoration you will have. You can have complete dentures, porcelain crowns, … so based on you restorations your chewing ability will be different.
