My new dentist advised me to remove the 2 implants and reperform the whole procedure.
Remove implants.
Jun 29, 2015
From what I can see, your new dentist is right. Immediate placement and immediate temporization is a neat idea and nice when it works. But the pathology present on your initial CT would rule you out for immediate temp and load if not immediate placement with most doctors. Your buccal plate appears very thin. Resorbtion after placement resulted in your gum recession. From what I can see, those implants are goners.
Dentist told me to remove 4 premolar teeth to apply braces. I don’t want to extract. Is there ano
4 Bi Extraction
Jun 29, 2015
Get a second opinion! 4 Bicuspid extraction is a very antiquated practice and should only be done when there is absolutely, positively no other option. It has a direct link to obstructive sleep apnea and craniofacial pain disorders later in life.
Has my dentist screwed up my implants?
Implant placement
Jun 21, 2015
It’s impossible to tell what, if anything, broke during the procedure looking at that film. The spacing looks good to me. Unless you have a cat-scan post op and can post frames from it, there’s not really a way to tell from 2D images what is going on three dimensionally.
Can TADs (temporary anchorage devices) be used to intrude teeth with braces and relieve mentalis
Mentalis strain
Jun 21, 2015
Mentalis strain is a significant indicator for ortho relapse as well as craniofacial pain disorders later in life. The best solution is to surgically release the mentalist either traditionally or with a laser. It’s a relatively simple procedure with quick recovery time.
My surgeon cancelled my upper/lower jaw surgery 2 days out. Any suggestions?
Go slow!
May 27, 2015
You have a lot going on with a very significant history and your surgeon probably did you a huge favor by not moving forward. It’s likely your past surgeries contributed to your problems instead of helping. First you need to find a dentist that is expert in treating TMJ and jaw to skull malrelationships. Someone who treats these problems frequently and non-surgically whenever humanly possible. And definitely someone who believes problems like yours are real. Unfortunately there is a…
Temporary veneers made from injectable material and a mold?
Temporary veneers
May 20, 2015
Yes, you are 100% correct. The standard is to have a wax up done and then an over-impression of the wax up is made and the injectable acrylic is placed into that mold and over the teeth. It looks like you have some pretty significant spacing between your teeth which makes the case a challenging one. I cannot think of a reason why a wax up would not be done. Additionally since you are not wearing temps that match the proposed final veneers there is no way for you or your doctor to make any…
Is Invisalign Appropriate for Jaw Alignment Treatment?
TMJ and Invisalign
Aug 14, 2011
Hi, the answer is absolutely DO NOT move forward with Invisalign when you have TMJ, especially symptomatic TMJ. Firstly, Invisalign in and of itself will do nothing to relieve your symptoms. Secondly, changing your occlusion without the dentist first gathering extensive diagnostic information is very likely to worsen your symptoms. Lastly, with all due respect to your dentist, it sounds like he/she knows nothing about TMJ. Not really surprising because its not a topic…
