Mole growing back into scar tissue?
Recurrent mole within a scar
Jul 12, 2017
I would recommend you follow-up with your dermatologist for consideration of removal of the entire scar that contains the recurrent mole. Most of the time recurrent moles within a scar are benign — however, it is unknown what changes could have occurred with your mole after 10 years. The entire lesion should be removed and evaluated by a dermatopathologist.
What can I do about spider veins on my face?
Facial Spider Veins
Oct 3, 2016
Small facial spider veins are easily treated with a vascular laser. There is a very minimal recovery time and a very low risk of scarring. There is a strong likelihood you will develop more spider veins over time due to your genetics, and the laser treatment is truly “spot treatment” and not preventive.
Not sure what I have- raised, skin colored bump. Best method for removal?
Upper lip “bump”
Aug 24, 2016
Thank you for your question. I would recommend seeing a dermatologic surgeon for this skin lesion. Likely, they will recommend shave removal which leaves minimal scarring. The “bump” should be sent to pathology for evaluation.
Had MOHS on tip of nose 8/19/16 and I’m already concerned if it’s healing ok.
Mohs surgery postoperative healing
Aug 24, 2016
Thank you for your question. I would recommend seeing your Mohs surgeon asap. Although this may be a normal amount of redness and swelling for a nasal procedure, there is always a possiblity of infection, and by returning to see your surgeon, this can be evaluated and address promptly.
I’ve had this mole cut off years ago it grew back, can I have it burnt off?
Treatment for a mole that grew back
Aug 16, 2016
Thank you for the question. I would recommend against burning or freezing any mole. When a mole is recurrent, it should always be evaluated. Because moles have a potential to be cancerous/malignant, they should be surgically removed and evaluated by a pathologist (aka biopsy). Surgical removal can be done by shave excision or standard excision with sutures/stitches. I would recommend you see a board certified dermatologist for evaluation.
Stitches VS no stitches?
Mole Removal
Aug 9, 2016
Thank you for the question. There will always be some scarring with either method of removal (shave removal and surgical excision). The anatomic location of the mole, the pigmentation of the mole, and if it is raised or flat will all dictate which method should yield the least amount of scarring. Cauterizing a wound often leaves more scarring with shave removal as compared to other methods that stop any bleeding (e.g. styptic medication or direct pressure). I would…
Is it dangerous to burn the moles off? Would burning the moles leave a scar?? Can it be healed?
Mole Removal
Jul 23, 2016
Thank you for your question. Moles should be removed by shave excision or surgical excision. All moles that are removed should be sent to a dermatopathologist for evaluation. I would recommend seeing a board certified dermatologist/dermatologic surgeon for any mole removal(s).
