An in-person consultation is necessary for the best advice but it is not uncommon to have some swelling above the scar for a few month. This is because the fluid form the tissues drains to the lymph glands in the groin. The scar cuts across these so the fluid builds up and has to "go around the scar". The answer lies in whether you would be left with excess skin or not. Something that only really be decided in person. Basically, liposuction will remove fat and deflate the skin - in many cases this skin tightens. But if you have lots of fat removed loose skin can be left behind. A tummy tuck will remove fat and skin leaving you with a flat abdomen.
