Dental Bonding on Front Tooth & Whitening?
Bonding and whitening
Nov 30, 2012
Nov 30, 2012
Always whiten your teeth prior to having any type of restoration replaced, including bonding. None of the materials which we employ to restore your teeth will bleach. So, if you want your teeth to be lighter, you need to whiten first and have the restoration replaced once the whitening is completed in order to match it to the lightened shade of your teeth.

I use Rely-X Luting plus cement every day in my practice. It is a wonderful product with a proven track record. I would not hesitate to have all-zirconium crowns cemented with this product.
Can’t Guarantee That a Root Canal Could Be Done On My Teeth Because of Calcification?
Calcified root canal prognosis
Nov 30, 2012
Nov 30, 2012
A calcified root canal is one of the most difficult situations to treat in regards to root canal therapy. It sounds as if you have two of them in one tooth. If one canal was previously treated (and the other two were left untreated), the chances of successfully treating the other two canals is poor. You may want to consider the alternative of extracting the tooth in question and replacing it with a dental implant and crown or a bridge.
Is There a High Risk Of Cavities With Invisalign?
Cavities and Invisalign
May 2, 2012
May 2, 2012
The cavity occurrance rate during Invisalign or ClearCorrect treatments is completely controlled by the patient. It is imperative that you do not eat or drink anything other than water with the trays in your mouth. Otherwise, you will be more susceptible to cavities.
I instruct my patients to remove their aligners prior to eating or drinking anything other than water. If the patient cannot brush following a meal or snack, I recommend leaving the aligners out of the mouth…
Process Involved in Replacing Composite Veneers with Porcelain Veneers?
Replacing composite with porcelain
May 2, 2012
May 2, 2012
The composite veneers should be completely removed if they are to be replaced with porcelain veneers. The teeth will be protected with provisional or 'temporary' veneers while the porcelain veneers are fabricated. These temporaries will seal and protect your teeth during the interim, and they should prevent any sensitivity issues.
Will a Deep Cleaning Reverse Gum Disease? And What is the Best Way to Tighten Pockets?
Reversing gum disease
May 2, 2012
May 2, 2012
Periodontal or 'gum' disease is nonreversible. Once you are diagnosed with it, you have it for life. Its progression, however, can be arrested. Depending upon the severity of your disease (from gingivitis to advanced bone loss), a deep cleaning may be the ideal treatment. It will not reverse the existing effects of your disease, and the future prognosis of your disease will depend upon your commitment to follow-up and home care.
Severe periodontal disease is…
How to Get Rid of Lines on Teeth Resulting From Braces?
Lines or scars from braces
Oct 6, 2011
Oct 6, 2011
It sounds as if you may have some residual resin left on the surface of your teeth from where the brackets were bonded. If this is the case, it can be removed quite easily, revealing your natural tooth surface. Ask your dentist or hygienist to scrape the "clear lines" with a metal explorer–if it leaves a mark, then you have excess bonding resin which was left over from your bracket removal.
If this isn't the case, then you may need to consider restorative…
