Question Regarding Blue Temple Veins?
Laser, Sclerotherapy, or lastly microphlebectomy
Oct 13, 2013
Oct 13, 2013
If done correctly, Yag laser with a wide spot size, on a long pulse width, on a low Joule may sometimes be able to treat the blue veins on the face. Blue veins are usually not treated with laser, but on the face, they are small enough, and the cosmetic aspect important enough to do the treatment. I have had success with 2-3 treatments to get rid of the blue veins completely. Of course, sclero is another good option, but will require careful administration to 1) prevent backing up into the…
Best Laser Treatment for Venous Malformation Inside/deeper Upper Lip?
Nd:Yag 1064nm safest
Nov 9, 2011
Nov 9, 2011
A relatively high fluency can be tolerated by inside/deeper lip areas, since this tissue has high vasculature and heals very quickly. My first choice would be a couple of sessions of 1064nm Nd:Yag for their deep penetration power, and ability to coagulate hemoglobins. I'd use a little bigger spot sizes than spider veins, such as 5mm, with fluency of about 200-250 J/cm2, and pulse width of 40ms. Sclerotherapy will be ineffective due to fast washout, and surgical option is not ideal due to…
Possible to Get Rid of Varicose Veins Permanently or It is a Progressive Sickness?
Leg Varicose Vein Treatments are permanent
Aug 21, 2011
Aug 21, 2011
Varicose veins, if left untreated, ARE progressive disease and will get worse with time. However, patients can proactively slow down the progression by using compression stockings, exercising daily, and elevating one's legs as often as possible during the day. But if they become medically symptomatic (ie cause pain, swelling, cramping, charley horse, restless leg syndrome, burning sensation, dermatitis, ulcers, etc), then you should seek treatment immediately.
The goal of treating…
Is There Any Treatment to Remove Broken Veins on the Face. Due to Discoid Lupus ?
NdYAG works just as well
Aug 21, 2011
Aug 21, 2011
I use Cynosure Elite NdYag 1064nm with very good success on broken veins on Lupus patients or any other patients. I found that a lot of laser techs have had burns and hypopigmentation issues when using 585nm PulsedDye lasers. Are there studies comparing two types of lasers for efficacy?
What to Do About Blood Vessels on the Upper Eyelid?
CO2 ablative laser will get rid of them
Aug 21, 2011
Aug 21, 2011
Instead of using Yag or Diode, or any other more penetrating lasers for upper eyelid, I'd use CO2 fractional ablative laser with metal corneal eyeshield protection. Yags or Diode lasers may penetrate too deeply and cause retinal injury. What CO2 laser would accomplish is 1) Using thermal energy to get rid of those fine capillaries 2) stimulate collagen production of the upper eyelid so future capillary formations wouldn't be so visible 3) Make your eyes look wider and…
How Can Large Veins Under the Eyes Be Treated?
Dangers in treating veins around eyes
Aug 21, 2011
Aug 21, 2011
I agree with other surgeons/physicians in NOT treating veins around eyes with lasers. Even with metal corneal protection shields, the angle for treatment of these veins, and well as the variable depth of penetration of lasers on thin skin, make them particularly hazardous. In addition, sclerotherapy can also be dangerous as the variable venous drainage anatomy may cause retinal vein thrombosis, or worse yet, intracranial extension. I do believe that micro, micro phlebectomy would be the best…
How Can I Make the Veins Go Away from Under my Eyes, I Am 15 Help !!!
Laser treatment and/or micro phlebectomy

Facial veins are common nuisances that a lot of people experience. Have you seen some people with really prominent forehead vein that pops out everytime they are yelling at someone or gets mad? What about veins in between your eyes and nose. Also, numerous capillary veins over the nose, cheeks, forehead. Severe form of capillary over the cheeks may cause someone to blush uncontrollably even in minimal stressful situations. A lot of doctors usually blow them off as being insignificant, but to…
