Dental contouring or bonding: Which is best for my chipped tooth?
Find the cause
Oct 4, 2020
Hello,
I’m sorry to hear you are having trouble with your bonding. It’s a good idea to speak with your dentist to ascertain why it keeps breaking. Perhaps you might be grinding which is impacting the longevity. We often suggest a splint to wear at night for patients with cosmetic dental treatment to protect their investment. A porcelain veneer is another option, but again, it’s important to protect the end results.

Received conflicting opinions from dentists RE treating my crowding. Whose opinion do I go with?
Dr John’s answer

As an experienced provider of Invisalign for over ten years and 3000 cases, I can say that you would be able to achieve a pleasing result with Invisalign over 15-18 months. You will achieve a limited result if you only treated between 6-12 months in my opinion. Braces are an option if you don’t feel you will be compliant with clear aligners, but aligners can achieve the same results with an experienced Invisalign provider. Keep Smiling,
Dr John Hagiliassis
I need to have my two front crowns replaced. Can the new crowns be made identical to the existing
Yes,

Your dentist should be able to make crowns with the same shape and color that you desire. They will take a shade guide and also impressions of the current crowns as guides.

Would a whitening strip dissolve or affect the temporary filling?
No
Aug 22, 2020
Dental bonding is typically strong enough to withstand teeth whitening gel. I suspect the whitening strips are not as strong as the dental grade whitening gel.

Only one set of Invisalign trays in nearly a year. Is this normal?
Answer

Hello,
Is this a dental retainer? It sounds like they have made you a retainer which is different to an aligner. Can you contact them to confirm. Wearing one Invisalign aligner for a year is not common practice.

Patience for the win

Hi Nikche,
It’s hard to determine your progress without consultation and your provider will be best placed to answer this.
Having said that, to reassure you, even though you may not see visible results to begin with, there may be movement happening (ie in the back teeth). It all depends on the treatment plan created. Did your provider show you the clincheck? This will show you which teeth they plan to move and when.
Also another great tip… try and place you week 1 aligner in your mouth. I…

Hello Sincere,
Fear of the dentist is not only common but totally understandable, especially if you have had a bad experience in the past.
It’s not ideal having your attachments on for that period of time. The good news is, that you may not have damaged your teeth. I would highly recommend you give your practice a call to discuss removing them during your next dental check up and clean appointment.
Take care and good luck :)
Dr Joh
