Answer Snippet
What is wrong with my smile/jaw and can it be fixed with surgery?
Smile esthetics
Jul 6, 2021
For starters, you still have a beautiful smile! There is some misalignment of your front teeth and there are some issues with the levels/heights of your front teeth. There is something called a smile arc, which simply means the edges of your top front teeth should follow the curve/arc of your lower lip. Additionally, if your smile is broadened and the front is wider, it will make for an even more esthetically pleasing smile. This can all be accomplished with any type of orthodontic treatment…
How long would it take to correct my teeth with braces? Do I need implants?
Yes
Jul 6, 2021
Without seeing x-rays to make a proper diagnosis, just from looking at these photos, I would likely recommend you extract the baby tooth, and either have an implant placed in that space (after more space is opened for proper esthetics) or move the adult canine back into its correct position and get an implant for the missing incisor. On the other side, we would open some space on both sides of the small incisor to move the tooth down (towards the bottom teeth) and then have a cosmetic…
What is the most affordable and quickest way to fix my crowding?
Any option works
Jul 6, 2021
This is a straightforward correction. It is beyond fixing simply with a retainer; however, a few clear aligners, lower braces, or lower InBrace can have those teeth straightened in 6 months or less. After you complete your treatment I would recommend a bonded/permanent retainer to prevent this same situation again.
Can I fix these buck teeth?
1-2 years and Yes to lingual
Jun 26, 2021
Your orthodontic treatment looks like it would range somewhere from 1 to 2 years, and you can definitely do lingual braces. Your arches need to be broadened and this will allow the front teeth to round out and retract/bring back your front teeth. Lingual braces can accomplish this if done correctly!
I would like to slightly file down my two front teeth and get a Bonded Lingual retainer on top and
Yes
Jun 26, 2021
You can have your front teeth filed a little depending on how much enamel the teeth have, and then yes you absolutely can get permanent/bonded retainers on both the top and bottom. Consult with a local orthodontist!
Is it possible for gums to reshape into black triangles that show up after Invisalign?
Unlikely
Jun 26, 2021
Unfortunately your gums will not “grow” and refill the black triangle. Black triangles are often caused by an issue with the shape of the teeth and how they contact each other, as well as the teeth being moved out of the bone/gums due to flaring or extruding the teeth during orthodontic treatment to gain alignment. Age also plays a role in all of this, which could explain why you didn’t have an issue your first go around with orthodontics. Often times to correct black triangles we will file …
Can I still get braces with chipped teeth?
Yes
Jun 15, 2021
Hi! Yes you can; however, sometimes it is more beneficial to have certain chips restored by a cosmetic dentist first prior to braces in order for the bracket to be placed in the correct position. It also depends on what type of braces are being used.
