Breasts that are asymmetric before surgery will usually be asymmetric after surgery. Breast surgery ( implants or lifts) is helpful in reducing the extent of the asymmetry and making a better match. However, if the breasts and chest wall are markedly asymmetric it is unrealistic to expect them to be twins after surgery. As long a patients understand these limitations, they are happy with the results.

Asymmetries that are present before augmentation will almost always be present after augmentation. However, its very common for these changes to be amplified in the first months after surgery. one breast is often more swollen or takes longer to settle in.
2 weeks post op and still pretty sore with muscle spasms frequently, is that normal?

It seems simplistic to say that everyone is different, but its also true. Most patients experience some muscle soreness for the first few days and then it becomes much better. Its not uncommon to have occasional soreness in the weeks after surgery. You should speak with your surgeon about these concerns.

After all of the excitement in deciding to have surgery it is very normal to be nervous in the weeks after. The adrenaline is fading and now your worried. As Im sure your surgeon has told you, it takes weeks/months for your breasts to settle and the shape and bra fit changes substantially with time.

90% of tummy tuck revisions are either removal of an inch of extra skin from the side or revision of the scar. These are done under local anesthesia and the patient drives herself home. Occasionally, someone needs a small amount of additional lipo in a specific spot.
Could I have a seroma 7 years out that wasn’t detected before?

The most common time to develop a seroma is in the first few weeks after surgery. A small or even moderate size seroma may be difficult to detect and it is possible that one has been present for years without being noticeable. An ultrasound of the abdomen is painless, involves no radiation, and will give you an answer immediately.
Is it normal my energy level is still pretty low and I feel the need to rest a lot?

Recovery after surgery can really vary. It is very common for patients to think that because the scars and surgery are looking good, they should feel just like they used to. Most of the time, your body is devoting extra energy to healing and the feeling of being tired is normal. By two weeks most patients are back to normal routine, but find that they may need a nap or just rest after work instead of running around. Energy levels slowly return to normal.

When the nipple are lifted there are 2 possibilities.
1. VERY UNUSUAL - the nipple must be removed and sewn back. This is almost never needed.
2. Whichever incision is used, the incision is made around the nipple and the nipple remains attached tot he tissue underneath. The nipple is repositioned and the skin sutured.
Would both breast implants need to be replaced after one has fallen 18 years since my surgery?

Whether or not a lift is needed will depend upon both the shape of your breasts and the relationship between the implants and the breast skin/tissue on top.
Implants need to be replaced because of either a desire to change the size or shape, or problems with the implant such as rupture or contracture. You should see a board certified plastic surgeon who can advise you about the status of your implants.
Post op bra wearing. I was told to wait until the 3rd week. Does this seem normal?

If you have an inframammary incision, then an underwire bra can be irritating after surgery.
In some patients, support of the breast is needed almost immediately and in these cases I send the patients home in a bra. In other cases, the skin is tight and the breast needs as little support as possible to allow the implant to fill out the lower breast. This is often confusing when patients begin comparing recommendations with each other.

Complications after breast augmentation fall into 2 general categories. The first is bleeding, infection, surgical recovery. These are usually evident in the first 7-10 days. My patients who travel for surgery usually stay in town for this time period. The second issues like contracture or other issues can occur months/years later. These are not emergencies and as long you are willing to fly back can be addressed more leisurely.

A breast lift will reposition your nipple and tighten your skin. Unfortunately it will not improve the emptiness in the upper breast. An implant will improve the shape. Any implaant will increase breast volume some. However, a small implant may increase the upper breast without increasing cup size as much, especially if a small amount of tissue can be removed from the lower breast with the lift.

Your question really has 2 parts.
1. When can you begin getting consults in relation to delivery/breast feeding?
If your breasts are close to your pre-pregnancy size/shape, then I think its OK to begin interviewing surgeons and getting advice. It may take time to find a surgeon that you like.
2. When can you have breast augmentation after weaning?
You should wait 3-6 months after weaning for surgery.
3 weeks post BA and an implant feels loose. Do I still have time to fix this?

The first few weeks after breast augmentation it is normal to have a number of "strange" sensations. Sometimes the implants feel hard or swollen, other times your breasts can be itchy, etc. It is very normal to experience new/unusual sensations and these can include the feeling of the implant moving. A quick visit to your surgeon should clear up any concern that you may have.
