Does Botox Work for Lips and How Long Does It Last?
botox works for wrinkles above the lips
Jul 25, 2011
Hello there.
Botox can be helpful for the wrinkles above the lips. If you pucker your lips or sip through a straw and don't like the lines that you see accentuated when you make these motions, botox can help to "soften" these lines. Please note that there are some adverse effects with the use of botox in this area, so you should talk to your doctor about these risks.
How Much Filler Can You Have Injected in One Sitting?
how much filler
May 6, 2011
The amount of filler in one sitting may depend on the volume replacement you need, and the locations where you are looking to improve. I will sometimes have people come back several times because we may not be able to see the exact desired outcome. Some of the fillers take time to see the results (i.e. sculptra), and some patients may have significant swelling with injections which make it difficult to see what the final results will be (i.e. some of the haluronic acids)…
Long-Term Effects of Fillers?
long term effects of fillers
Feb 2, 2011
There was a study showing that some fillers (hyaluronic acid) may actually increase the amount of collagen. Other than that, the temporary fillers all "disappear" over time and should not leave any "holes". It is interesting that our faces change over time, with loss of volume in certain areas, so over time, you may notice these changes as the fillers wear off.
Laser Resurfacing for Hispanic Skin?
getting rid of smile lines
Jan 17, 2011
Hello,
You can use Fraxel safely on Hispanic skin to stimulate collagen and improve smile lines. Fillers like Restylane and Juvederm can improve some areas but are hard to use if the smile lines are very fine. Botox can also be used to improve this area in low doses. In many cases, I combine the treatments for optimal results.

Experienced Botox injector – even if not a dermatologist or plastic surgeon?
You should search for the most qualified person to treat you
May 12, 2010
Hello, like Dr. Lupo, I am also a board certified dermatologist, so I do have my bias. Having said that, I also completed an internal medicine residency before I went back and did a 3 year dermatology residency and I can tell you that you don't receive the appropriate training to be a qualified cosmetic surgeon/botox injector.
There are many nuances to aesthetic treatment of the face that I believe plastic surgeons and dermatologists know best. I have had…
Is Fraxel laser or Accutane better for rosacea in Asian olive skin?
Best treatment for rosacea is pulsed dye laser
Apr 26, 2010
It sounds like you are trying to compare apples to oranges. Accutane is used to treat nodulocycstic acne or very severe rosacea in some cases. It is a medical treatment which will not affect the redness and blood vessels. It is important for you to know that you should not have any laser treatments for 6 months to 1 year after your last accutane dose. There have been reports of scarring and problems healing that result if you perform the laser earlier.
In terms of laser treatment for…
Does pulse dye laser stop the growth of hair in the treated area?
Pulsed dye laser and hair growth
Apr 2, 2010
Pulsed dye lasers will not affect hair growth. The lasers needed to remove hair are different wavelengths and target different things, such as pigment. Therefore, you should be able to safely have your red spot removed without a problem.
