Septum deviated to right but I feel airflow is restricted in right nostril – what’s the reason for t
Septum and airflow
Sep 28, 2022
It might sound contraintuitive, but many patients experience obstruction to flow in the non-deviated side. This relates to the fact that your turbinates will increase in size if allowed to grow, and a deviated septum away from the turbinate (left in your case) could potentially lead to overgrowth (hypertrophy) of your left turbinates which subsequently could restrict airflow. The other reason is that a septum could be deviated to one side in the front but start off crooked from the opposite…
Possible to only go up by 1 cup for deflated breasts? Donut lift recommended for me?
Cup size
Sep 28, 2022
As you allude to yourself, no breast augmentation could be performed without increasing the size of the breast. The size of implant needs to be carefully selected through a consultation with your surgeon. Part of the assessment is the overall shape (width, projection, height) of your breast mound, and this could guide you and the surgeon as to which implant options you have. Some people prefer modest augmentations, and that is absolutely an option for most – yourself included. Many surgeons…
Nostril reduction during rhinoplasty – how do surgeons ensure nostrils are the same size?
Measurments of nostrils
Sep 28, 2022
During surgery, and especially when trying to obtain symmetry, most surgeons will do measurements of the nostrils prior to excision and also measure the tissue to be excised. It is important to understand that nostril size not only relies on the nostrils themselves but are also influenced by the surrounding facial asymmetry which every person has. As such, no person has perfect symmetry before or after surgery. If your nostrils are equally sized prior to surgery, the measurements would be…
Is it safe to have fat graft injections to your nose after rhinoplasty?
Fat grafting to nose
Oct 15, 2020
Hi,It is possible to fat graft the nose, and if done by a well trained and certified rhinoplasty surgeon the risk of embolism is very low. There are several techniques that minimize embolism, such as using a blunt tip canula for injection. As with all nasal procedures, it is vital to examine the patient in person to come up with the proper plan and recommendations.
Redo: Revision Rhinoplasty for an over-projected tip?
Revision for overprojected nose
Oct 15, 2020
Thank you for your questions and photos. The easy answer is that of course you can have an overprojected tip corrected. That is within the range of normal challenges a well trained and certified rhinoplasty surgeon will handle. There are several ways to do this, but in general you would need to bring the framework (cartilage) of your tip closer to the face, while at the same time balance the rest of the nose. It would also bring the nasolabial junction closer to the face, thus reducing the…
Is It possible to have bulbous tip refinement without sutures to avoid tenting?
Bulbous tip refinement, sutures or not
Oct 15, 2020
Thank you for your question. It’s always hard to give an easy answer to a highly technical question, so please bear with me.Tip refinement involves many maneuvers, it could be cephalic trim, lateral crural strut grafts, lower lateral cartilage turnunder/over flaps and suture techniques, just to mention a few. Sutures are usually necessary to control the other maneuvers, but there is also a great variety in how the sutures are placed and tightened. It is absolutely possible to cause tenting…
Will my nose even out or will I need another rhinoplasty?
Concern about nostrils
Oct 13, 2020
Thank you for the answer. As with any rhinoplasty, it is hard to see the end result at only 3 months. This might be why you feel your surgeon is not worried, he might just be expecting changes to happen over the next several months to year. It is hard to judge just from one picture if you have a problem, also it would help to see your before pictures as well.In my opinion I always advice patients to return to their surgeon for follow-ups, and be patient as things change over time. My general…
What are your suggestions for an injury damaged nose tip and concave alar crura?
Injured tip and concave alar crura
Oct 12, 2020
Thank you for the well illustrated question. If I understand you correctly, you have already been diagnosed with poor external nasal valve function, which is a result of too weak cartilages in your region above the ala – supported by your lower lateral cartilages. This problem can be fixed through surgery, where cartilage support is provided in the area of concavity, usually in the way of septal cartilage. In doing so, both function and aesthetic appearance could be improved.A well trained…
Is having a mole next to your nose problem for people wanting to get a rhinoplasty?
Mole and rhinoplasty
Oct 12, 2020
Hi, and thank you for your question with photo. The mole you have will not have any effect on the surgery, as no incisions need to be placed where your mole is. The only time incisions might be needed in this area is when the nostrils are flaring and they need to be narrowed. Even then, a highly trained and board certified surgeon would be able to preserve your mole if that was your preference.
I want to get an upper eyelid surgery. Should I do an internal browpexy as well?
Brow pexy vs Brow Llift
Oct 10, 2020
Brow pexy is not a good solution for lifting your brow which is low due to poor nerve function. Based on this, you will always have a difference in position and animation of the two brows, but a better way to correct the asymmetry is by performing an endoscopic brow lift. In this way your eyebrow will be lifted to a more favorable position, and the result is more long lasting. This can easily be combined with an upper blepharoplasty to address the excess skin on your upper eyelids.
