Can you have an extra nipple on the breast next to an actual nipple?
possible extra nipple
Feb 5, 2019
Hello there and thank you so much for your question.
Yes, it is possible to have an extra or ‘third nipple’, rarely even multiple nipples. Usually these extra or supernumary nipples are harmless and to not need treatment apart from for cosmetic reasons. Extra nipples usually sit on a line starting from the armpit, going down through the normal nipple and continuing on down to the groin; this is known as the ‘milk line’ or mammary line and if you…
Why has nobody invented a silicone based muscle replacement for unilateral cleft lip
? silicone for uneven repaired cleft lip
Feb 1, 2019
Hi there, and thank you so much for this question.

There are silicone implants for lips which could be used but I worry that in a mobile structure such as a repaired cleft lip, and particularly with inherent scar tissue, these implants, in my view, would be likely to fall out. I have seen this even in patients without a cleft lip repair. It would be much better to improve bulk and symmetry by equalising the muscle repair and possibly using a dermis-fat graft, which is your own tissue and…

Which treatment would be best for my acne scars?
best treatment for acne scars
Feb 1, 2019
Hi there, and thank you so much for this question.
A full consultation and assessment with an experienced is always essential but from your pictures I would mention a number of possible choices:
Skin management with retinoids (tretinoin) and other topical agents
Microneedling with a Dermaroller or Skin Pen
TCA CROSS (Chemical Reconstruction of Skin Scars with TCA)
Medical dermabrasion (dermasanding) / deeper peels such as TCS / Phenol or resurfacing ablative skin lasers
There…
9 months after brachioplasty, scar feels very tight?
tight scar after brachioplasty surgery
Feb 1, 2019
Hi there, and thank you so much for this question.
This scar does not seem to have stretched overly much but may be still a little thick, and therefore tight. The profile of the arm looks very good, however.
Progress in the healing process and maturation of scarring can be different in different individuals but some patients are prone to thick or tight scarring.
Massage, pressure and topical treatment such as silicone gel or better still silicone gel tape can help; steroid…
Pain over a year after brachioplasty. Is this normal?
pain after brachioplasty arm lift
Feb 1, 2019
Hi there, and thank you so much for this question.
It would be very unusual to be suffering the problems you describe, one year on from surgery and I would want to understand why this is happening to you. Sometimes liposuction can damage or bruise the sensory nerves in the upper arm, if any nerves were cut then they could develop into painful neuromas though I suspect that is not the case with you. Occsionally it is just a prolonged reaction of the nerves after surgery but if so…
Excess tissue/fat bottom chin. Are there ways to undermine it?
excess fat under chin
Feb 1, 2019
Hi there; thank you for your question.
The solution to your problem would of course be best addressed after a full assessment by an experienced plastic surgeon, particularly as the tissue under the chin in the anterior neck needs very careful management owing to the proximity of important structures. There are variations in the distribution of fat which would then dictate the best method to treat it…
The options include non-surgical techniques such as cryolipolysis (Cool…
I would like to know what kind of procedure/work could be done to upper lip?
reducing asymmetrical overly large lips
Sep 13, 2017
Hello, and thank you for your this excellent question!
It is possible to address lips that are uneven, overly large or ptotic (droopy; floppy).
However it would be important to know more about why the upper lip is uneven – for example have you had any previous injury, treatment (surgery or filler), or allergy?
I happen to undertake a lot of surgery for cleft lip and palate and sometimes balancing / reduction procedures need to be undertaken for patients with this condition but of…
