What could be causing increasing pain and sensitivity in my teeth after veneers?

Hi f10a,
The discomfort you are feeling in your back teeth not touched by the veneers could be the result of the alteration in how your teeth come together as the front teeth (where you have had the veneers done) often guide the bite. If the symptoms remain after a couple of weeks, consult with your dentist. At times it might take six weeks or even longer to get used to your new bite.

Hi Alanka49,
Having trustful communication is key in any doctor/patient relationship. Dentists want what is best for their patients.
The chip in your tooth is quite easily repairable. Bring it to the attention of your dentist in a calm manner.
I am reasonably confident you will have the issue resolved.
Best wishes,
Amir H. Motamed, D.D.S.

Hi Tinderbell1012,
No, it is not possible for the crown to have been placed backwards.
If you are unhappy with your crown, bring it to the attention of your dentist. Dentists want to see their patients happy and your dentist might replace the crown for you.
Best wishes,
Amir H. Motamed, D.D.S.

Hi Bootsy1,
Try soaking the teeth overnight in peroxide.
If that doesn’t work, place the teeth in some acidic solution like Cola for a day or two to soften the tooth elements for easy removal. Vinegar or lime juice could work as well.
In the worst case scenario, ask your dentist to clean the crowns out when you go in for your next checkup.
Sincerely,
Amir H. Motamed, D.D.S.

Is pain or sensitivity after a filling normal?

Hi kmp323,
Sensitivity after a filling is normal, especially if your cavity was deep.
Sensitivity to cold can even last a few months!
Give it time and notify your dentist if the pain comes on spontaneously or when you sleep at night. That type of pain is usually from a distressed nerve due to a deep filling.
All the best,
Amir H. Motamed, D.D.S.

You Need to be Comfortable with your Doctor

Hi Alimdill619,
You need to feel very comfortable with whoever your doctor is.
Seek treatment as soon as you you can with another oral surgeon or a gum specialist (Periodontist). This time, do your diligent research. If you would not mind traveling to Los Angeles, I can refer a few highly qualified specialists here. Call my office and we can guide you in the right direction.
Hopefully you will find a specialist that you would be at much ease with.
