Will whitening the back of my tooth help to prevent the veneer shade to get darker?
lingual bleach
Jul 11, 2019
Jul 11, 2019
I guess it depends on material used? EMax? empress? Feldspathic? All of these materials have different properties and how was the restoration made? cut back and layered or stained and glazed? In theory you can bleach the lingual surfaces and “maintain” a tooth value but I have found this to be hard to do. If color is changing an earlier post was correct discussing the vitality of the nerve, and internal bleaching. In nature the centrals should always be slightly higher in value due to the…
Can You Get Dry Socket with a Bone Graft? How Do You Detect This?
infection or dry socket?
Aug 13, 2013
Aug 13, 2013
If a tooth has a large infection the desired protocol is to remove tooth and infected tissue with curette and adequate irrigation. Let socket heal for about a weak to let the body manage the infected tissue. The dentist will then re-enter the site, graft, suture, and obtain primary closure. Since the tooth was grafted at time of extraction your risk of dry socket is higher. Are you a smoker? On birth control? All of these can interfere with proper clotting. Pain start 2-3 days after…

To Fill a Hole Drilled in a Dental Bridge for a Root Canal, Should Filling Material Make It Look L
access hole restoration
Apr 16, 2013
Apr 16, 2013
What material was used for your bridge? porcelain stacked on metal? all ceramic (emax or zirconium)? If you see grey most likely the metal underneath is showing through the resin restoration. you can block out the metal with some very opaque flowable resins. you then use a more natural shading system to match the ceramics. It is not uncommon to see the access but is the time involved and extra cost worth it? does the access show when you smile or speak? make your concerns known to the the…
Am I a Good Candidate for a Single Veneer?
rotated tooth
Apr 8, 2013
Apr 8, 2013
The position is likely due to a malocclusion from the lower canine. if the tooth is simply prepped and made to look aligned you still need to manage the cause of the problem. So a single veneer or 3/4 crown with some reshaping of the lower teeth. The position will make it necessary to reduce the lateral incisor a fair amount to get enough reduction for the ceramist to make the restoration esthetic and strong enough to resist fracture. A clear aligner may be the best option and leave you with…
