Many Factors in Post-Operative Pain
All breast augmentations have some degree of discomfort associated with the surgery; some women experience a sense of tightness, others describe more pain sensations. There are several factors that can influence how “painful” the surgery may be including: tighter breast tissue and larger implant size is generally associated with more pain, while the use of pain pumps or long-acting local anesthetic medication may reduce the amount of pain.
Additionally, each woman has a different pain tolerance that makes it very difficult to predict how someone may do. I encourage you to discuss your concerns with your surgeon and inquire which strategies they use to help during recovery.
Natural feeling breasts with breast augmentation
Breast augmentation does provide a natural look and a natural feel. I recommend consulting with a board certified plastic surgeon to discuss the best and safest possible options for you. During your examination, your plastic surgeon will let you know whether you are a good candidate for saline or silicone gel.
Patients who don’t have enough breast tissue to start with or who have a low body fat percentage benefit significantly from silicone gel. Silicone gel is the more natural feeling implant. Placing the implants underneath the muscle will also help provide a more natural look and feel.
For you, there is no right or wrong answer but you are asking my opinion with no other info. You will have great results! Go for it!
No difference between 375 and 400 cc breast implants other than mental
The only difference between these 2 implants is in your mind. You’d look basically the same with each. Ask yourself whether your greater fear in a year is thinking you might be a tiny bit too small or too big and this one question will tell you which of these 2 implants to choose.
Go with 375 if you want to be sure it’s not to big etc. Then go forward and never look back regrading size as you have done all you can to control it.
Replacement of old Silicone Implants
I was placing silicone implants when you had yours done. Most of those are still in place and doing well. If you are having no problems, then do nothing. Surgery itself is much more dangerous than leaving an old implant.
You will not look natural with 500 cc implants
Without examination it is hard to help you with the exact size, but 500 cc is too big. You have mentioned that you want to look natural, then I would suggest 325-350 cc silicone gel moderate profile.
Bigger the implants, more complications and more surgeries later.
Uneven breast augmentation
I hope by now you are more equal in size and happier with the overall result. Breast asymmetry is a fact of life as you already knew prior to having your augment. Your doctor tried his/her best to create symmetry with an asymmetrical fill while viewing you intraoperatively.
40 cc’s is really not that much of a volume (think 8 tsp or 2.5 tbsp) and it should make or break a result. It is likely your early results reflected some swelling or fluid in the pocket.
If your asymmetry persists and you are motivated, you could return later to the operating room and remove a small amount… I do not think it would be worth it as you would have to accept ALL of the risks of implant surgery again such as bleeding and capsular contractures.
Again, I hope with the passage of time, your results will become more favorable to you.
Implant sizing–who decides?
The decision should be a collaborative and cooperative experience between the patient and the surgeon. A patient’s opinion is extremely important but a physician does need to weigh in on whether the size desired is suitable to the patient’s chest size, potential side effects and complications.
Breast implant size
When choosing an chest size and breast width are very important In general most people achieve their goal with 250-350cc
So in your case this is bigger than usual and might be large enough but may look abnormal to because width and tight volume jrc.
I’m 33, 5’5, 131p, 1 child, breast fed for 17 months. Would it be possible for me to get implants only, without a lift?
100% no chance! Sorry but your posted photos demonstrate 4th degree ptosis. Best to seek in person examinations and discussions wit a local boarded PS.
Second consult
In my opinion, absolutely not bad etiquette. I know for my patients I want them to make sure that they get exactly what they want and that we are able to manage their expectations if something is not doable.
The last thing I would want is for the patient to have remorse in not having come back to ask for larger or smaller implants. If I had to guess, I would say 10% of my patients either call back or come back to change their size so you are not the only one.
Will implant work?
It really depends on the final “look” you are going after. An implant will fill you out more but it will not lift your breasts. An implant alone will not give you “perky” breasts with your current shape.
Implants
A smaller soft cohesive moderate plus gel would be a great choice for you. The exact size depends on your specific anatomy and can best be determined by a Board certified plastic surgeon .
Will Breasts Look Larger As Breast Implants Drop?
As your implants settle and swelling goes down your implants would not look bigger they would only have better shape then what they probably look now, Is always best to go smaller with a breast lift not to put so much pressure in the incisions after you fully heal and you still want to go bigger the recovery is faster.
