Doctor’s answers

Question
Answer Header & Date
Answer Snippet
5’7 and around 211lbs. My bra size is a size H. Will it be difficult to get my insurance to cover a breas
Breast reduction under insurance
Aug 8, 2017
The short answer to your question is yes.
However, factors such as the type of policy you have and your symptoms may effect coverage for this surgery.
Best to find a surgeon within your insurance plan and have a consultation. But overall given your breast size, I can’t imagine that coverage for your surgery would be denied.

Best of luck!

Do I Have Symmastia?
Symmastia
Sep 28, 2013
Again, thank you for the pictures, they do show exactly what you are concerned about. I agree that your implants are not in the midline or communicating underneath the skin, which would be true symmastia, but they were moving towards the midline. The thong bra that you are using appears to be placing them into better position, as you can tell with your nipple position. If that garment is doing the trick, I would continue wearing it to help with your implant position. My only concern would be…
10 Days Post Op Breast Augmentation Hematomas?
Postop Breast Hematoma or Infection
Oct 3, 2012
Thank you for providing your photos. The redness of the breast in the first photo is not normal; it could be as simple as an allergic reaction from tape/bandage or as serious as a hematoma or infection. I strongly recommend you see your plastic surgeon as soon as possible. Hope things work out for you.
Will Tricare Cover Abdominal Muscle Plication?
Tummy Tuck and Tricare
Jun 9, 2011
It is highly unlikely that Tricare will cover repair of diastasis recti / tummy tuck. It doesn't hurt to ask, but don't get your hopes up. More than likely you are looking at an out of pocket expense for a TT and BAM.
If I Am a Diabetic is It Safe for Me to Get a Tummy Tuck?
Diabetes and Tummy Tuck
Jun 9, 2011
It is safe to undergo a tummy tuck with well controlled diabetes. Understand that wound healing can be affected by diabetes, and that your risk for wound healing complications is slightly higher than average, but it certainly shouldn't preclude you from having the surgery. Make sure to discuss your plans with your endocrinologist or primary care physician as some insulin dosing adjustments will be necessary postoperatively. Best of luck.
I Got a Seroma After Flying at 18 Days Post Op. Do You Think This Was Due to the Pressure?
Tummy Tuck and Seroma
Jun 9, 2011
The pressure changes during the flight are not likely the main cause of your seroma. You developed the seroma 4 days after the drain was removed, a complication that can happen even with the best surgery, best patient, and best surgeon. Generally, traveling by plane requires a fair amount of mobility and activity- dealing with luggage, stretching, and alot of standing and sitting- more so than you would be doing at home, which could disrupt healing areas from your surgery. I usually do not…
How Fragile Am I After Having a Tummy Tuck?
Injury after Tummy Tuck
Jun 9, 2011
Generally, after tummy tucks I restrict patients from lifting and straining for at least 6 weeks (usually a 10lb restriction) and have them in a supportive postoperative girdle-type garment for up to 8 weeks. Unfortunately, accidents can happen and any potential internal injury to the tummy tuck suturing is possible. You will have to see if your contour has changed after your swelling resolves, and obviously consult with your PS if problems arise.

As you didn't mention when your…

Uneven Nipples, Should I Have Revision Surgery?
Asymmetry after Breast Augmentation
Jun 9, 2011
Your pictures show that your implant on the right is too low, pushing your native breast tissue up and causing your nipple to point up and out. I'd consult with your PS to revise this as your breasts will not improve this far out from your original surgery. Best of luck.
Will Insurance Cover Breast Asymmetry Correction?
Breast Augmentation and Insurance
Jun 9, 2011
You will have to check your insurance policy in regards to breast surgery coverage (or with the HR dept where you work) to see if your policy may cover your surgery. It can be quite challenging to get insurance to cover breast revision surgeries that aren't cancer related. Definitely consult with a PS in your area who takes your insurance, and they can guide you through the process. Generally, if you do get insurance coverage for your procedure, be prepared to still pay some out of…
Do Ripples In The Breast Implants Indicate A Leak?
Breast Implant Leakage
Jun 9, 2011
I would have to agree with my colleagues, the only reason for your breasts to become smaller is either weight loss or implant leakage. The new appearance of ripples can also be a sign of a slow saline implant leak. I would definitely discuss this with your PS. Best of luck.
Tubular Breasts Uneven & Pointing Down After Implants. is This Normal?
Tubular Breasts and Augmentation
Jun 9, 2011
Although a preop photo would be helpful, it does seem that your right breast implant may still be riding high. If your implant does drop, that could provide you with more symmetry.

Waiting another month (which is when you can see your PS anyway) will help determine if you need further revision. Chances are at 2 months if your implant hasn't descended, it won't travel much further on its own in the next month.

Keep in mind that working with tubular breasts is very challenging,…

Does Everyone Still Have Loose Skin After Their Tummy Tuck?
Loose Skin After Tummy Tuck
Jun 1, 2011
Not everyone has loose skin after a tummy tuck- this of course depends on each patient and their anatomy. Although the goal of the procedure is to remove the excess skin, we do try to avoid excess tension on the incision as well. There may at times be some excess at the ends of the incision ("dog ears"), which can be removed easily in an office setting if need be. Good luck with your sugery.
Would I Benefit from a Tummy Tuck?
Tummy Tuck Candidate
Jun 1, 2011
Looking at your photo, I would have to agree with my colleagues- you will get a better result with a tummy tuck than liposuction alone. The two can be performed together to improve your contour as well, if deemed necessary by your plastic surgeon. You will most definitely achieve the best results by attaining a realistic goal weight prior to surgery, and keep in mind that the surgery is a stepping stone to a new body contour- but without proper weight maintenance, you can lose your results….
Did I Actually Get 500CC Breast Implants?
Breast Augmentation Size and Disclosure
Jun 1, 2011
It is your surgeon's responsibility to provide you with the information regarding the implants used, size, and important details regarding your surgery, and there should be no doubt as to what size implants were used. I'm sure your surgeon would be more than happy to provide you with that information.

If your displeasure is based upon your appearance, then your surgeon will be able to discuss with you your current size and whether or not adjustments need to be made.

Does This Seem Like the Correct Size?
Breast Augmentation Size
Jun 1, 2011
Although your result is early, your PS is right in saying that your breasts will not become larger in size, and, in fact, you may become slightly smaller once your postoperative swelling resolves. Given your photographs, I do feel that your result is acceptable given your preoperative asymmetry. There appears to be some higher positioning of the right implant versus the left, however.

It is early to make any decisions in regards to revising your breasts, and I would suggest waiting a few…
