Your nose can be improved without taking away your African American ethnicity. I would add to your bridge using cartilage from inside your nose. You would not require an implant. There is enough cartilage in your nose to create a more refined profile without using an implant. Using your own tissue is always better than an implant when such tissue is available and adequate. Your nose can definitely be narrowed during a rhinoplasty. Narrowing a nose will not change how your sinuses drain, but it can definitely create nasal obstruction. You airway needs to be evaluated carefully before creating a surgical plan.

In some cases, a scar forms between the septum and the sidewall of the nose (the inferior turbinate). It is often possible to simply release the scar and place a splint between the structures that were scarred together. The raw surfaces heal with mucosa and do not scar back together.

You are a good candidate for rhinoplasty. But it has to be done in a very specific way. You have what is called an over-projecting nose.
