Running with Breast Implants?

There is no reason that a very active runner cannot get a breast augmentation. The key is to make sure that the size/ volume is appropriate for your frame and existing breast tissue. Certainly, the larger the implant weight, the more it can drag down the existing breast tissue and put strain in your shoulders.

There are many active patients that have implants and the key is the correct implant choice and placement. There should be no higher risk to implant damage or complications just because of activity.

Could I achieve a better look with just implants.

Your photo shows significant breast ptosis with the nipple below the breast fold. A breast lift will certainly give you the best result. The lift need not result in a loss of breast volume, however you will know best about six months after you stop breast feeding what breast volume remains.

Implants without lift?

This is a question that I get asked quite often, but unfortunately, a significantly droopy breast cannot be corrected with an implant alone. Without a lift, the implant will sit at your inframammary fold and your breast tissue and nipple areola complex will be below it.

In clothing it may look okay, but out of clothing, you would be very unhappy. The good news is that breast lift scars can heal beautifully if patients follow scar care instructions.

A lift is needed

and augmentation without a lift would NOT be a good idea. A lift without implants is reasonable, as well as a lift with implants. Finances may also be a problem for the Dr. who told you an augmentation alone was not required.
Breast lift

I honestly think for the best surgical outcome you would benefit from a lift to the left side (to help with the asymmetry). You have fair skin color so scarring in this area should fade nicely.

Do not let scarring stop you for overall getting the best result. Scars will fade with time. to you.

Ruptured saline implants..

It is not anything to panic about when one of your saline breast implants ruptures. However, it should be taken care of as a priority, because leaving a ruptured foreign object in your body can cause more complications in the future then if you were to just take care of the situation as soon as possible.

Best suggestion is to replace the implant during the same surgery as you removing the ruptured implants. If too much time hasn’t passed by then the surgery can be so quick it can even be done under local anesthesia.

How long is an average bed rest after breast implants?

The amount of discomfort after breast augmentation surgery is directly related to implant placement either over or under the muscle. Under hurts more.

But then each patient recovers at a different rate. You should not be going back to work until you are off narcotics and that also varies dramatically between patients.

As a general rule I tell my patients with submuscular implants that the majority of patients are comfortable going back to a desk job on Ibuprofen in one week.

Some go back sooner and that’s fine if they feel up to it.

Will breast implants look good on me?

You should be able to achieve a nice breast implaant result as long as:Your implants are placed under the chest muscleYou do not go too large-I would say 225-250cc based on a measurement of the base width of your breastYou see a very experienced board certified plastic surgeon.
To find a surgeon in your area visit the website of the American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons.

Natural

You only have a certain amount of space behind your breast tissue and muscle. You can get a wonderful enhancement when an experienced surgeon fills this space completely. It will fit YOUR body.

However, when one tries to over-stretch the space, you put the tissue under stress andand this can thin the tissue, create hernias and increase palpability and visibility of the implant, producing anunnatural appearance.

This is a common problem for inexperienced surgeons who, trying to please the patient, try to achieve cup sizes and use larger implants than the patient’s anatomy dictates. Sometimes, if the patient wants a larger size than their physique allows, a two stage procedure can solve the problem – placing a larger implant at a second operation after the tissues have been stretched at the first augmentation.
Saline filled implants which can be further inflated after they have been placed (like tissue expanders) are also available. Leakage has been reported at higher rates with these implants by some.

My wedding is 7 months after I get my breast augmentation. Good idea?

Your planning seems to be just fine; proceeding with breast augmentation surgery with seven months of recovery time will be more that enough time for gown fitting etc.

For an outcome that you will be very happy with ( both from the breast augmentation and the marriage stand points).

Current technology has a good track record other implant ideas merely research

Your question is a very interesting one that triggers a long answer citing the current research history on more natural, soy based, self filling implants, Hyaluronic etc… The short answer however is that as of today the technology available is pretty advanced and yields a large satisfaction between patients.
All the other more natural implant ideas were more research ideas that never proven to deliver a safe implant. You have to spend time gathering data about all the different types of implants saline, gel etc.

Your choice of a plastic surgeon certified by the American board of plastic surgery is a key issue.

Remove or Replace If Implant Is Leaking

With the evidence of the leak, even if intracapsuular, you would be well advised to remove the implants with capsulectomy. You may elect to replace the implants at the same time, or leave them out.

Studies do not show that silicone “poisoning” exists.

If your implants are silicone from about 20 years ago, it is likely that they should be removed and either replaced with newer implants or left out. No studies have shown that there is a condition of “silicone poisoning”.

Dr Frank Lista Plastic Surgeon

Silicone is a naturally existing substance that is non reactive. Silicone is present in the syringe and needle that drew your blood as well as in orange juice and many other substance and foods you ingest.

I would suggest getting a work up from a good Internal Medicne doctor to evaluate your problems.

Mind the gap: getting the cleavage right with implants

It is truly remarkable how common a problem the wide gap after augmentation is, at least in the on-line B&A picture sets. There are a number of causes. Sometimes large implants above the muscle are not well supported and drift apart over time.

Under muscle implants have a different problem, which is that the muscle attaches along the edge of the breastbone (sternum) so that pushes the implants apart every time the muscle flexes. The surgery is often a balancing act in that the muscle needs to be released enough to let the implants come close together, but if the muscle is completely detached then a much worse problem sets in.

Dr Frank Lista Plastic Surgery Clinic Mississauga Ontario

Probably the most important thing is to get the diameter of the implants right.

Implant size after surgery

Your breasts look nice and they not become larger at this point. They will most likely become a little smaller when swelling decreases.
