Breast implants are very durable

Breast implants are very durable and can be used by professional athletes and body builders. I once had a professional snow skier whom I had placed implants involved in a nasty crash on a Colorado ski slope.

I saw her afterward, she had 3 broken ribs and bruising up and down her body, but her implants were intact and good as new! These implants are designed to hold up to rather severe trauma and even if they did break or rupture, implants have a life time warranty, and will be replaced by the manufacturer for free.

Breast Augmentation with or without lift?

Implants without a lift?

You can as long as you realize your nipple posiiton will not change, it is a trade off…less scarring for improvment in fullness and size but nipple position remaining relatively stable.

Saline implants and rippling

All saline implants eventually ripple in my opinion. This occurs most commonly when a woman has diminshed breast tissue or when an implant is placed subglandular. As women age, the breast tissue decreases and this will lead to an increased risk of rippling.

500 cc Breast Implants

It is impossible to be specific to your anatomy however I would tell you that in my LA practice 500 ccs is very much above the average implant size for a woman starting as an A cup.
What size would you like to achieve and how much roundness will you accept. Remember too that such a large implant is more likely to thin your remaining breast tissue and develop rippling or waviness with the passage of time and future pregnancies.

Discuss this carefully with your doctor to be sure that you are comfortable with the choice and.

Appearance after removing breast implants and getting a lift

It sounds like this would be fine. The reason why is that given you wanted a lift in the first place, I assume you were OK with your breast size in a bra.

I don’t know what size implants you have. Assuming they are a reasonable size, say up to 450cc, and knowing you are a G cup, it seems very likely that you will be fine with removal and a lift.
However, only after physical exam can your surgeon know for sure. Also, be very careful to discuss what size you were before the surgery and how you felt about that size. Even though you are too large now, you have gotten used to this, and the removal of the implants and drastic size change can be overwhelming.

It is very important to remember how you felt about your breast size in a bra prior to the surgery. If you were OK with it, you should be OK with just the lift; if you thought you were too small, you really have to discuss this with your plastic surgeon.

Have several consultations and make sure you feel very comfortable with your plastic surgeon before proceeding with revision.

Very Large Breast Implants are More Problematic Over Time

We have a good variety of implant sizes and dimensions available in the United States. For patients that want to use larger implant sizes, often they will be disappointed if they don’t choose a higher profile implant.
There are limits and trade-offs, however, and in no case would I suggest that a patient use an implant that too wide for the breast. For women that do desire higher profile implants, it is important to recognize that this will stretch the tissues more and is expected to cause more relaxation and thinning of the tissues over time, particularly if a person’s breast tissues are thin and less supportive.

It is likely that revision surgery and/or breast lift would be required more rapidly in such a patient, particularly if such a patient chooses to “downsize” the implant size in the future. For breast implant surgery, it is important to discuss your goals and your implant size choice with an experienced plastic surgeon.

My wedding is 7 months after I get my breast augmentation. Good idea?

I think that is plenty of time for you to heal and your breasts to settle for a dress fitting. In addition you will look like your wedding photos for years to come as you reminisce about the big day.

Breast implant position over or under muscle

Breast implants can be placed on top of the muscle or under the muscle. One way is not better than the other but there are differences. Generally, any implant placed under the muscle has less risk of palpability and rippling than an implant placed on top of the muscle.

However, because of the anatomic shape of the pectoralis major muscle, it is still possible to develop palpability and rippling in the lower, outer region of the breast.

Massaging Breasts after Breast Augmentation

Most surgeons recommend that patients massage the breasts after surgery for 2 weeks. The proper massage technique will be taught to you at your post-operative appointment. Breast implant massage performed the right way is very important to ensure that the scar tissue around the implant heals in such as a way as to provide ample room for the implant to move around comfortably.

Implant selection is a stressful part of the breast augmentation procedure since there are so many choices. Unfortunately it is impossible to offer you the appropriate style, size, shape, or profile of implant without measurement of key breast parameters as well as an in-depth discussion as to your goal results.

Breast implant size.

There are many variables that go into a breast implant including the base diameter and the quality of the skin and the patient’s goals and expectations regarding a look at that they are seeking. As a general rule a high profile implant is a more narrow implant with more projection that tends to cause a round look.
A moderate and or moderate profile plus implant is a slightly wider diameter implant slightly less projection. Discussed your goals and expectations and some potential representative postoperative pictures that you find attractive with your potential plastic surgeon.

Many physicians may also choose some intra-operative sizing which can help with this decision.

Filling An Existing Implant

In general, most patients need at least 100cc more in their implants than they currently have to really see the difference they are looking for. 50cc is the equivalent of 1/6th a can of soda, so even on a petite frame, it would make very little change.

With a 275cc implant filled to 275cc, you could easily go up to 325cc without rippling, firmness, or narrow implant issues. The question tough is would this be enough, and the answer is doubtful.
