Statement: Dr. Keyes is a double board-certified plastic surgeon in Los Angeles with more than 40 years of surgical experience. He offers procedures for the face, breast, body, and skin, but his primary expertise is in rhinoplasty and nasal reconstruction. “Rhinoplasty is one of the most important operations for improving the appearance of the face, and it has the most dramatic change on assimilating and balancing facial features,” says Dr. Keyes. “There is nothing more rewarding than taking a cast off of a patient and seeing the surprise and happiness on their face because they’ve had the transformation that they wished to achieve.”

Dr. Keyes received his medical degree from Loyola University Stretch School of Medicine and completed an internship at Washington University. He then completed three residencies, in otolaryngology (head and neck surgery), general surgery surgery, and plastic surgery.

He is a member, past president, and current visiting professor of the Rhinoplasty Society. Membership in the organization is through invitation only and involves an extensive vetting process. Members are considered innovators in their field, and the most respected aesthetic and reconstructive nasal surgeons in the world.

“My success with patients comes from the fact that I spend a lot of time with them,” says Dr. Keyes. He also uses a computer program that allows him to show patients digitally altered versions of their nose with specific changes, to better align on a patient’s cosmetic desires. “When patients actually see some of the steps taken to achieve some of the change, it makes them more comfortable with the fact that they know where they’re going.”

Dr. Keyes is board certified by both the American Board of Plastic Surgery and the American Board of Otolaryngology — Head and Neck Surgery. He’s a member of the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery and the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, and a fellow of the American College of Surgeons.

In addition to a commitment to create the best surgical results possible, Dr. Keyes prioritizes patient safety. He performs surgery at accredited surgical centers and hospitals, and works with a dedicated team of board-certified anesthesiologists and registered nurses to provide the highest level of care. “There are two components to having surgery: one is the technical result to achieve the outcome, while the other is going through the intraoperative and postoperative course safely,” says Dr. Keyes. Having served as president of the American Association for Accreditation of Ambulatory Surgery Facilities, he is considered an expert in patient safety.

Reduction Rhinoplasty for Overprojection
Jul 26, 2019
Shortening your nose with tip reduction and refinement will improve its appearance.  There are specific techniques for managing overprotection that all for the tip of the nose to be brought closer to the face.
The septum of the nose is slightly shortened to allow the nose to appear smaller, but care must be taken not to allow for over rotation of the tip.  Your nose is complicated and requires careful planning to get the desired result. The best way to review what should be done to give you t…

Nasal Improvement
Nov 7, 2018
When we analyze the nose for surgical improvement we like to see multiple views.  Your photo is a frontal view that demonstrates a straight nasal bridge, but your nasal tip can be reduced and refined.  There are multiple examples of this type of refinement in our photos.Improving the jawline is achieved through a facelift.  This procedure involves removing excess skin and tightening the facial tissues to improve the appearance.
How much would it cost on average to fix my bulbous nose? Do you think my nose would be hard to work

Having a bulbous nose operated upon can be rewarding when the operation is performed properly.Cost vary from surgeon to surgeon.  I believe the average price in Los Angeles is about $7500.
Any suggestions for my Revision Rhino?
Healing time with revision rhinoplasty
Apr 21, 2016
Dear Ms. Luv, Without having any photos of your nose to review,  it is difficult to assess your specific concerns. As with any revision rhinoplasty surgery, it usually takes an additional amount of time for the nose to heal. Swelling may take up to 18 months to fully resolve. Make sure to follow up with your surgeon on aregular basis to assess the progress of your healing.
When will my swelling go away completely? It’s been 8 months.
Length of time for swelling to subside with rhinoplasty
Apr 21, 2016
Dear Tariq, Thank you for your question. The healing period for arhinoplasty is minimum 1year for all of the swelling to resolve, especially with having thick and oily skin. Please make sure that youhave regular follow up appointments with your surgeon to assess theprogress with your healing and above all be patient.Best of luck to you!
Should I consider a revision?
Revision needed?
Nov 17, 2015
Thank you for your photos and inquiry. From your photos your nose appears to be
reasonably straight.

If you are seeking to have it straighter than you should
meet with a board certified

Plastic surgeon who has a lot of experience with nasal
surgery and discuss possibly

having revisional surgery to further straighten your nose.

4 months post op Septoplasty/Rhinoplasty. I noticed a bulge toward my bone that shifts my nose down.
Post op healing after 4mths
Nov 17, 2015
It appears that you may have some supra tip swelling that
given more time may resolve itself over time.
The only way to determine the reason for the swelling is an examination.
You should discuss this with your surgeon and ask him to assess whether it is
swelling or more septum that needs to be reduced. If it is cartilage, then revising the nose would be a
relatively minor procedure.
Rhinoplasty in the future? Have tried fillers but didn’t work for me?
Rhinoplasty in the future
Nov 17, 2015
Dear Michelle,

Thank you for your questions and photos. Having a rhinoplasty procedure is a very
personal choice to make. You are an attractive young woman with a nose that
isn’t a terrible feature on your face. I
would recommend that you have a consultation with a board certified plastic
surgeon who is experienced with rhinoplasty surgery and can provide computer
imaging of your nose. This will help you decide what changes you want to make.

Changes with having septorhinoplasty
Nov 17, 2015
Thank you for your
photos and question.

It is too early to determine the final outcome of your
surgery. Swelling persists for some time
after surgery and it is best to wait before you judge the final result. You should see your surgeon on a regular
basis during the first year to evaluate your progress. Best of luck!

Is this realistic?
Reasonable expectations with having surgery
Nov 13, 2015
Yes, your dream nose is possible! Your expectations based on
your after photos appear to be reasonable. You would benefit nicely with having
a rhinoplasty procedure. I would recommend that you have a consultation with a
board certified plastic or ent surgeon who has a lot of experience with nasal surgery. After viewing before and after pictures of
their patients and having a thorough exam and explanation about the procedure
from your surgeon, you should be able to feel

Dear Sara,

Thank you for your photo and inquiry. It appears that you will benefit nicely from having
a rhinoplasty procedure with a reduction of your dorsal hump, rotation of your
nasal tip, along with tip support using your own septal cartilage as a columellar

your current droopiness. As always, prior to surgery, discuss with

Dear Skoonheid,

It’s not unusual for your nose to swell after the dressing
is removed and to have your swelling go up and down unevenly.

It’s too soon to judge the final result as the nose takes up
to at least a year for the final swelling to subside. The intial “soft tissue” swelling should
improve within the

the first several months. Make sure to have regular follow up
appointments with your surgeon during your healing process and above all, be
patient.

Should I perform open or closed rhinoplasty?
Closed or open rhinoplasty

Dear Adgil,

Thank you for your photo and questions. It would be helpful to see your nose from the
profile view but based on your photo you can definitely benefit from having
rhinoplasty to narrow the nasal bones and give the tip more definition and
support as it appears to droop. This may
be accomplished by either closed or open technique. A consultation and examination by a Board
certified plastic surgeon that is experienced with rhinoplasty surgery is
highly recommended. Best of luck…

Should I get secondary Rhinoplasty?
Revision rhinoplasty for hanging columella

Thank you for your question and photos. Based on the photos
that you’ve submitted it may likely be a hanging columella. If this is the case, it can be corrected
safely with revision surgery. I would recommend that you be examined by a Board
certified Plastic Surgeon who specializes in revision rhinoplasty surgery. He or she will be able to address your
concerns. Best of luck!
