Can I Go on to my Next Invisalign Tray After Less Than 2 Weeks, if my Teeth Fit in It?
Faster movement–not always ideal
Sep 24, 2018
Sep 24, 2018
Hi there,
That’s great that your teeth move so fast! But what’s going on under the gumline that you don’t see: The bone is slowly reforming around moved teeth. That means that certain areas of bone around teeth are softer than others. Keeping the teeth in that position helps grow the bone faster in those areas and you will have a better final result. Keep course, stick to it and you will be happy in the long run. Good luck!

Wearing Invisalign for Less Than 24 Hours Per Day
Slower treatment

We recommend wearing aligners 22 hours per day (2 hours to compensate for eating times).
If you shorten the amount of time worn per day, you’ll have to wear the aligners for a longer period of time to obtain ideal movement and retention. Teeth movement is pretty simple–it takes time and pressure to move teeth. If we shorten the time worn per aligner, the total treatment time lengthens.

I’m having extreme throbbing pain after getting a crown.
Pain is BAD

I’m sorry to hear that you’re in so much agony. I would definitely call the doctor you saw immediately. It is normal to have some pain after crown preparation procedures but intense throbbing is not. Potential issues might be:
1. The temporary crown is too high. If this is the case, a new temporary or an adjustment to the current one can help solve this issue.
2. Open margins on the temporary. If the temporary wasn’t made properly, and it doesn’t seat completely…

Tooth Sensitivity for over 5 Months on New Crown
MI paste
Sep 24, 2018
Sep 24, 2018
Hi there,
I would have the bite checked to make sure that there aren’t actually any interferences in the bite that can irritate the nerve of the tooth. Because you said that sensodyne seems to be helping, it is most likely a little bit of recession with exposed root that’s causing the problem. In my office I like to use a material called MI paste (GC America) that can really help with sensitivities like this one.
Good luck!

Can I drink alcohol with Invisalign on?
Stick with water
Sep 24, 2018

This is a great question. When we drink sugary or alcoholic drinks with our aligners in, the sugary liquids can remain inside the aligner and actually serve as food sources for the bacteria in our mouths. If you’re going out to bars, I would suggest taking out the aligner when drinking (remember to keep it in your pocket case!) and rinse before putting them back in.
Good luck!

My Temporary Crown on the Back Tooth Came Off- Do I Need To Cement Temporarily Until Dentist Visit
Put it back
Sep 24, 2018
Sep 24, 2018
Hi,
I would suggest gluing it back in so that you can eat properly without pain. Usually when crowns come off they can be easily recemented by removing the excess cement and using some conventional dental cement (these can be found at drug stores in the dental aisle) until you get to see your doctor in a few days. Hope you feel better!

Pain Under Crown Months After Root Canal?
Possible Crack tooth or accessory canal
Sep 24, 2018
Sep 24, 2018
Hi there,
Usually residual pain after root canals can occur due to a few things. The easiest solution and most conservative plan would first be to check to see if the crown isn’t too high. If it is, then you would be feeling some pain when you bite down.
Other possibilities are that the tooth might actually be fractured, or perhaps an additional “accessory canal” was missed during the root canal treatment.
A good thorough examination by a great dentist can help…
