Answer Snippet
Should I be concerned with getting the tummy tuck/mommy makeover?
Tummy tuck and SBO
Nov 5, 2019
Even though you have had previous intra-abdominal surgery the tummy tuck is performed superficial to the muscular abdominal wall and would not put the small bowel at risk. Nevertheless, there will be scar tissue in the subcutaneous tissue from the previous surgery and this will make the tummy tuck more difficult. Therefore you will need to be evaluated by a board certified plastic surgeon to determine your eligibility for the surgery.
Procedures to remove skin from abdomen around belly button instead of huge TT scar?
Mommy makeover
Nov 5, 2019
I understand you have concerns with surgical scarring and I think many of your concerns have been addressed by the other doctors. However, no one has addressed your concern with eyelid bags. It may be possible to fill the depression below the area of fullness (tear trough) with filler, effectively eliminating the contour irregularity without surgery. This is easily performed in the office and has instantaneous results.
When can I have TT and breast lift surgery after ileostomy?
Surgery after ileostomy takedown
Nov 5, 2019
There is no specific time frame, but wounds need to be healed and tissues recovered from the last surgery. I do think that it may be possible to proceed as early as 3 months if these criteria are met. Of course you would need to be evaluated by a board certified plastic surgeon to make this determination.
What is the right order to have surgeries, time space between each, and which can be done together? (p
Mommy makeover
Nov 5, 2019
You raise several good questions. The breast reduction would probably have the least blood loss and therefore your recovery would be faster to have the other surgeries performed. I would recommend taking iron supplements to speed your recovery. I do think it is possible to perform a tummy tuck, liposuction and a BBL simultaneously in the appropriate candidate, and of course you would need to be evaluated by a board certified plastic surgeon to determine your eligibility.
Which surgery is best for my saggy boobs, flat butt, stomach, and back fat?
Mommy makeover
Nov 5, 2019
You would be a candidate for a tummy tuck, liposuction and breast reduction. However, this would be too much surgery to be performed in one operation. You would need to discuss with your Plastic Surgeon which area bothers you the most, and then focus on treating that first.
How much weight should I lose before having a tummy tuck?
BMI
Nov 5, 2019
Your height and weight equates to a BMI of 39. This does not preclude a tummy tuck, but it does put you in a higher risk group for serious complications, especially clots in veins in your legs that can then travel to your lungs. This risk can be decreased with proper medication and stockings worn after surgery. Nevertheless, a complete evaluation would be necessary to determine if you are a candidate for surgery and if there are other risk factors that would need to be addressed.
Do I really need a tummy tuck due to loose skin after a BBL?
loose skin
Oct 24, 2019
It is possible that liposuction will produce some skin laxity. One option to prevent this and avoid a tummy tuck would be to use Vaser liposuction. This uses ultrasonic energy to help remove the fat cells and in the process produces heat that can stimulate skin tightening. The energy level can be set to avoid injury to the fat cells in order to allow adequate fat transfer.
Should I consider full tummy tuck or mini tummy tuck? Or maybe CoolSculpting?
tummy tuck vs. cool sculpting
Oct 24, 2019
Your issue is completely related to skin and muscle laxity, not fat excess. Cool sculpting would do nothing for the skin and muscle laxity, and since there is not significant fat excess it would only remove money from your wallet. A standard mini tummy tuck would not correct skin laxity above the belly button. Therefore, a full tummy tuck, or possible modification such as an umbilical float would be appropriate.
My doctor suggest me to try lipotropic injection instead of abdominoplasty. Does it work?
lipotropic injection vs. tummy tuck
Oct 24, 2019
Non-surgical injections might remove some fat from the abdomen, but would not provide for muscle or skin tightening as seen in tummy tucks. This would also apply to cool sculpting which is a non-surgical procedure and is primarily appropriate for patients with a limited amount of fat and no significant skin or muscle laxity.
How long will it take for my seroma to dry up? 1.5 year post TT.
seroma
Oct 24, 2019
A seroma will only resolve when the fluid is gone and the walls of the cavity adhere to each other. In order to achieve this, the cavity needs to be empty with either the drain in place or frequent aspirations. Allowing fluid to build back up only maintains the seroma. It is possible to inject a sclerosing agent into the seroma to encourage the cavity to scar in.
How are keloid scars formed after a tummy tuck? Are vertical scars more likely to develop keloids?
keloid scars
Oct 24, 2019
There are actually two types of unsightly scars, the hypertrophic and the keloid. Hypertrophic scars are thick and raised, but do not extend beyond the scar itself. Keloids on the other hand are not only thick and raised, they will extend beyond the original edge of the scar. Hypertrophic scars are much more common especially on vertical abdominal incisions. The only symptom would be a slow progression of redness and thickening, which can be prevented in some situations with silicone sheet...
What's wrong with my breasts and how can I fix them?
Breast shape
Oct 13, 2019
Your breasts are slightly asymmetric with a larger areola on the right. This could be corrected with a circumareolar mastopexy, but this would place an incision around the entire areola. Otherwise there is lack of superior pole fullness. If you want to avoid implants, another option would be fat transfer, if there are adequate areas to suction in order to obtain adequate fat volume.
Vectra "breast width" vs Vectra "breast base width"?
Breast width
Oct 13, 2019
The important dimension is the width of the chest, from the lateral sternum to the lateral breast, which can be easily measured with a caliper and does not require Vectra. In my experience picking an implant with a base diameter that most closely matches this number will provide the best shape and cleavage.
What size and implants is better for my body: teardrop, round moderate plus or high profile?
Breast implant type
Oct 13, 2019
Teardrop implants are all textured and this is now a concern with regards to a rare cancer, ALCL. Therefore, I would avoid those implants at this time.
