Breast Implants Feel Natural?

Since normal breasts may feel different between different women, it is hard to expect that implants will feel natural for each woman.

Using smaller, silicone implants under the muscle makes it more likely that the breast will feel more natural.

Should I have augmentation or lift.

In my 20 year experience I have found that patients such as yourself are generally dissatisfied with adding a breast implant to your current breast volume. It will not give you the look you desire and will add weight making your shoulders uncomfortable.

While a lift is a good option and will give you a better shape , I do understand about scars at your age. Therefore your best option to lift your breast with no scars would be with liposuction which will allow your breast to contract and lift somewhat with tiny scars.

However, you should go to someone who has experience doing this in the breast. In addition it may be possible to add a small implant after the suction to improve upper pole fullnes.

There are good reports of breast volume reduction by liposuction in the literature which you can find and may be of help.

Could I get away with implants without a lift?

You are going to have much much better results by having a lift as well as implants if a larger size is what you desire.

You already have significant sagging of the breasts, and implants alone will only drag them down more due to the weight.

You also lack upper pole fullness, which would be corrected with a lift and small implant placement. Consult with your areas board certified plastic surgeons for the best recommendations as to what size and style of surgery would best compliment your body.

“Stem cell” breast augmentation still controversial, implants not

The procedure marketed as a “stem cell” breast augmentation is actually fat grafting. The fat is obtained by liposuction, and since fat has stem cells in it, these can be isolated and concentrated in the fat that is prepared for grafting by injection into the breast (or other places.

) The controversy relates to several issues: One is whether the addition of the stem cells contributes enough to the results to justify the additional time and expense. Another is that even with stem cell enhancement, the amount of fat that can be placed in one session is far less than th volume of the average breast implant.

Finally and perhaps most important, there is some evidence that stem cells in breast tissue can encourage precancerous cells to grow. Whether or not this increases the risk of breast cancer has not been proven.

Regarding your concerns about implants, the issue of mold growing in saline implants has not been reported to occur with what is called a closed fill system, which has been in use for at least 15 years.

The 40% re-operation rate is much higher than we see in my practice, as I am sure with the other plastic surgeons on Real Self. And the question of implants causing health problems has been definitively disproven, though anti-implant activists perpetuate these myths.

You can fill them more, but not enough to make a significant difference

Implant manufacturers have recommended volumes for each size implant. An implant may have a recommended volume of 360 cc to 390 cc or from 350 cc to 400 cc, for example. From practical standpoint, hey can be over filled by a lot more than the recommended volume.

However, if you go much beyond the recommended maximum, you risk an abnormal shape and feel (hard) and you risk voiding the manufacturer’s warranty. When someone wishes that “they had gone bigger” adding a mere 30 cc or 50 cc to the implant is not going to really change the final cup size.

Think of adding one more ounce (30 cc) to a 12 ounce drink (360 cc) . The volume really is about the same since you are changing it by less than 10%. Have a good discussion with your doctor. I would recommend not jumping to a new operation for at least 6 months so you know exactly where you stand.

If you still want to go bigger, make sure you discuss this carefully. You will need new implants, unfortunately.

Breast Size

It is always a difficult decision as to what the best size for any individual is for breast augmentation. I like to use computer imaging in that it gives you a visual idea of a possible result.

Giving a patient an implant and asking them to put the implant in ones bra is NOT an accurate way to represent the postoperative result. It is not only the implant volume but also the implant profile which plays an important role in the final result.

For instance a 400 cc moderate profile implant will product a very different result than a 400cc ultra-high implant. You are off to a good start as far as researching what you want but you still have some work to do!.

Breast implants

Size is affected by many things, the most important in my mind is the width of your natural breast. You do not want the implant to be wider than your natural breast, or you risk seeing or feeling the edges.

The wider your breast, then the larger your implant can be.

Breast Implant Size

Selecting an implant is a very individual and personal decision. I would recommend spending time with your plastic surgeon addressing each of your concerns. Make sure that you are fully informed about the options available to you before proceeding with the surgery.

Over the muscle vs. under the muscle

It would be nice to know your age and reproductive history and whether you nursed ,BUT working from your picture I would agree with your surgeon for the following reasons:

Dr. Kevin Sadati Is An Exceptional, Highly Specialized And Experienced Facial Plastic Surgeon

  1. You have asymmetry (mild) of shape and volume.
  2. Left breast is lateralized (pointing more to your arm)
  3. Both breasts are signifintly lower than the origen of your pectoral muscle negating many of the advantages of under the muscle.
  4. you already have ” good coverage’ of the upper pole of your breasts which is one of the reasons to use the under muscle proceedure.

The use of silicone prostheses is a descision best made between you and your board certified Plastic Surgeon.

Breast Implant Selection

Breast implant selection is a process of combining the patient’s idea of size and shape with the reality of tissue thickness, skin elasticity and skin distensibility. Nipple position on the breast is also important.

I ask my patients to get their opinion whether they want conservative, average or above average proportioning and then review with them what potential I think exists while allowing for a natural appearance.

Keeping in mind our agreed-upon goals I select the final implant based on the actual appearance of the patient’s breast during the surgery using test implants called sizers. I have found that that’s the best way to get a combination of optimal size and aesthetic results and consequently don’t preselect implants until I actually see how they sit and appear at the time of surgery.

It also helps to have patients bring in photographs of proportioning that they would like as a goal.

Yes you can

All the posts are spot on so far that you need to discuss your goals with a few plastic surgeons. Above the muscle not as common and the sub fascia not believed to be better by many but certainly possible.

A silicone implant in range of 275cc TO 300 CC moderate plus about right. You will need a bra for cleavage given your shape!.
