What is my best option for correcting asymmetry?
jaw surgery
Nov 21, 2023
Start with a consult with and oral and maxillofacial surgeon. If your teeth are misaligned then jaw surgery would be a good option. An implant in the left mandibular angle and body area would camouflage the discrepancy, however this would not be a good option if you had a malocclusion.
Would I need jaw surgery or braces to fix my underbite?
jaw surgery
Nov 21, 2023
Your underbite certainly warrants a consult for jaw surgery. Start with an orthodontist to align the teeth (this may exacerbate the upper and lower jaw discrepancy)
What can I do about my narrow/small jaw?
jaw implant/jaw advancement
Nov 15, 2023
Good idea to consult with an orthodontist. The orthodontist can do imaging that can assess deficiencies in growth. Often times jaw surgery and facial implants are done at the same time by an oral and maxillofacial surgeon.
What procedures would give this level of midface shortening?
jaw surgery
Nov 10, 2023
Hello,This would be a completely unrealistic expectation/result from jaw surgery. The only way to achieve this kind of skeletal change would be corrective jaw surgery, however the result remains unrealistic.
Told I have prognathism, do I really need jaw surgery?
jaw surgery
Nov 10, 2023
Hi dental colleague. No one really NEEDS jaw surgery, its not cardiac surgery. In light of no malocclusion, this would be purely a cosmetic pursuit, so the choice is 100% up to you. Weigh the risks and benefits of the procedure if you decide to have a consultation. Good luck.
What can I do to improve my profile?
jaw surgery
Nov 10, 2023
Really the best way to address is corrective jaw surgery. Jaw surgery is the only way to move the jaws into the correct position and establish facial harmony in this case.
Small, weak chin and jowl dips. Not interested in fillers, what procedure would be best for me? (photos
chin implant/genioplasty
Nov 10, 2023
When thinking about chin augmentation, a chin implant or sliding genioplasty are the two main options. It is also worthwhile to have the surgeon look at your teeth to see if additional jaw surgery may be beneficial. In profile view, there is great upper lip support. Both chin asymmetry and protrusion can be addressed very well with sliding genioplasty.
