I typically advise my patients to wait 6 months post breastfeeding before undergoing breast surgery. Waiting at least 6 months will allow for stabilization in any fluctuations of weight and breast size. In addition a breast reduction can potentially interfere with the ability to breastfeed. Size after surgery can only be estimated, and a patient’s breasts should be examined in person by a plastic surgeon as different factors influence the final size, shape, and amount of lift.
