Porcelain Veneers Vs Dental Crowns?
Veneers versus crown
Oct 29, 2017
Hi,
I am a big proponent of the minimally invasive dentistry therefore I really believe that natural teeth are the best.
Veneers are always less invasive with saving a lot of natural tooth structure.
Recently with the introduction of the no prep veneers the veneer options became even more conservative to a point that we don’t have to remove and drill any of the existing tooth enamel.
Some patients are good candidates for no prep veneers and for some cases only conventionally…
Dental Implants Recovery Time
Recovery time after implant placement
Oct 29, 2017
The modern implant system does not require any downtime.
With this being said you still might have some discomfort in the area where the implant was placed but this doesn’t necessarily mean that you have to take a day off.
Resuming normal eating and drinking will happen about a couple of days after the implant is placed. It might take slightly longer if bone graft or sinus lift were needed.
I hope this helps.
Best,
Mina Levi DDS
How Much Do Dental Implants Cost?
Cost of dental implants and denture alternatives
Oct 29, 2017
The cost for dental implants can rage between $2000 and $5000 US dollars.
The price ranges due to the amount of bone needed for the implant placement.
For example if there is not enough bone we need to do a bone graft and this makes the procedure more expensive. Another good example is if the implant is planned to replace an upper missing tooth close to the sinus then there might be a need for a sinus lift which makes the price go up.
Implants are a great alternative for dentures, they…
How Long Will the Pain Last from Tooth Whitening?
Pain after teeth whitening
Oct 29, 2017
Hi Nikkid,
Sorry to hear that you are experiencing pain after the tooth whitening procedure.
The pain that some patients have after the in office whitening represent itself with what we call “zingers” – sharp pain in some teeth that comes and goes and lasts only for a couple of seconds.
This pain will not be a permanent pain on those teeth, most likely it will go away 24 hours after the procedure. It is caused by the dryness of the natural teeth and 24 hours later the teeth will go back to…
Wearing Invisalign for Less Than 24 Hours Per Day
How many hours to wear Invisalign trays
Oct 6, 2017
Hi there,
thank you for the great question.
The design of the Invisalign trays is such that the patient has to have at least 20-22 hours of wear in order for the system to work.
Wearing them less than 20-22hours can compromise treatment results.
I would not recommend Invisalign treatment to my patients until they are committed to a dull time wear.
With this being said sometimes it can happen that on occasional days people don’t have the full 20-22 hours and in this case I tell my patients to…
Am I Able to Drink Anything and Eat Soft Foods While Wearing Invisalign?
Drinking and eating with Invisalign trays
Oct 6, 2017
Hi there,
thank you for the question.
It is not recommended to eat and drink any liquids other than water while having Invisalign trays in the mouth.
This increases the risk of decay and also causes changes in the trays which will compromise the treatment.
If you absolutely have to have a sip of liquid other than water make sure you take the tray out of the mouth, rinse it and rinse your mouth before you put back the tray.
Good luck with your Invisalign treatment.
Best,
Dr. Mina Levi
How Long After Invisalign Do I Need a Retainer?
Retainers after Invisalign
Oct 6, 2017
Hi Hasila,
thank you for the great question.
Wearing a retainer after Invisalign treatment is very important and each case is very different.
Sometimes patients have to wear their retainers for the rest of train life and sleep with it.
In other cases people will be wearing them every other night etc.
It is very important to consult with your dentist and ask questions about the retainers before starting Invisalign treatment. If a retainer is needed and you are not willing to wear it after…
