Custom Shading of Porcelain Veneers
Sep 14, 2019
Sep 14, 2019
Hi There! The simple answer is yes. Porcelain veneers can be custom shaded. We often recommend that for SmileDesign patients at the Center for Esthetic Dentistry, LLC in New Haven CT. Sometimes it is baked in originally when the veneers are being made. And sometimes it is added at the end, at the glazing phase. Any good dental lab can do this. The web link shows you four veneers, with the lateral smaller side teeth custom shaded to blend more with the canines. I hope this helps. Keep g…

Best Ways to Close Small Gaps Between Teeth
Sep 14, 2019
Sep 14, 2019
Hi There, Yes small gaps are very conveniently closed with dental bonding. It is a simple procedure, yet very difficult to execute well to make your two front teeth look natural and symmetrical together. Both must teeth should be done when at the midline to have your smile be harmonious. Not much of your tooth has to be covered, maybe 1-2mm. And the margins can be thinned in and over the front / inside surfaces. Look for a dentist who can show you her/his work first before you com…

Falling In Love w/Big Teeth

Sep 9, 2019
Hi There! Thank you for the pictures of your smile. Yes as it is, your teeth appear large; I get it. I think one issue there is that you have very little side smile and so all the focus is on your two central teeth. I am a huge fan of side smiles balancing out the front teeth; think Julia Robert’s smile. So some type of orthodontics is your best and safest choice of treatment. I recommend Invisalign over all other metal/wire and/or clear correcting orthodontics. Invisalign has the best …

Hi there! What a good question! And good for you researching a procedure that can only make you feel so much better about yourself! As far as I know, no problems with your in the mouth bridges and your on the neck ultrasound procedures. Be sure and mention to your medical doc so she/he knows. They’ll have the final day. Have fun! You will be very glad you did it.
What’s the best solution for my problem ? Is it lip lowering or Botox injection?
Lip Lowering – the easiest way
Sep 5, 2019
Sep 5, 2019
Hi There! You ask great questions and your pictures are worth a thousand words! I totally understand your desire to not show much gum tissue when you smile. Botox is the way to go at first. Then if you like the results there and get tired of the constant cost, I would then look into a surgical solution. That way you have verified what you want before have a surgical procedure. Have fun!
Is it normal to heal faster on one side then the other after wisdom teeth removal?
Healing and Wisdom Teeth
Dec 13, 2018
Dec 13, 2018
HI There, You have pointed to exactly why you are experiencing a difference in your healing from right to left. “They had to dig more.” The trauma from that digging, with it’s resultant swelling, will have your right side heal differently than the left. Not sure it is slower, it is different – more to heal – than your left. If you are not experiencing pain, bleeding, or redness/heat – all signs of inflammation/infection – then you are on the “normal” path of healing.

Porcelain Veneers and Eating

Hi Wookie77,Porcelain veneers are a beautiful, long term restoration if done right. When you are in provisional temps, very often the cement we use cannot withstand biting into foods. When you get your veneers on they will use a bonding type of cement that is very strong. That will enable you to eat most anything. I do tell my patients not to eat corn on the cob. I then say, I”I have veneers on my teeth and I carefully eat corn on the cob and have for years.” I inform everyone and …
