My special technique of Phenol Chemabrasion, entails applying the chemical peel on day one, taping the face, returning the next day, and me then removing the oozing on the skin surface. This section lets me abrade off the white scar tissue from a face lift. Most but not all the scar is removed. Most patients are very happy with their improved scars.

I have treated the remaining dark skin on the face with phenol peels. It helps reduce the contrast. Has to be repeated. Patients are happy with results. Doesn't help recover the color. In India they treat the white spots w 89% phenol (no Croton oil ), a milder version, to injure the skin and cause post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation which helps reduce the contrast.

I have repeated. Full face Croton oil/phenol peel in 3 patients with no problems. I have done "regional " touch up CO/Ph peels in over a dozen acne scar patients because it was needed to continue the scar improvement.

Ellanse sounds very promising.

It is similar to Sculptra but works better, according to Dr Nick Lowe. He spoke about Ellanse this weekend at the AACD meeting in LA. He works in London but used to teach at UCLA . Likes it right after Subcision for acne and traumatic scars and for hand rejuvenation. Not FDA approved. We will keep our eye on it.

First of all, hispanics and latinos come in all skin colors. But I understand the real question is an one so this peel on skin of color type 4? Yes you can. Dr Klass is correct. Based on your photos you seem to have red scars and some seem atrophic. I like tailoring the treatment according to the type of scars you have. I am a referral center for acne scars. I would suggest a pulsed dye láser like the VBeam Perfecta. I do a lot of Subcision so I'd like to examine you for rolling scars. Your scars are typical with combination Box, ice pick and Rolling scars...you need combination Rx w Subcision, 2 day croton oil/phenol chemabrasion and fillers after 1-2 subcisions and one peel...you may also need something like accurate low dose for 30 days to control an acne flare up seen in peels for acne scars
