Thanks for your question and the short answer is yes, it can be done, but we want to make sure that we will be able to achieve the results you want. Liposuction tends to work the best when the overlying skin quality is good and the skin is not loose or hanging. If the skin is good (say on the flanks) then it will respond well to liposuction in most patients. The results of liposuction will depend on a number of factors, including the location and amount of the fat, skin quality and the surgeon's experience. One important thing to note is that intraabdominal fat (fat behind your muscle around your organs) is often a big contributor to a patient's abdominal contour and this cannot be addressed with liposuction (diet and exercise tends to work best for this area). Discuss your goals with your surgeon so that you know exactly what you should expect.
