I feel that my patients are very excited to not have any drains following their tummy tuck.  It allows for less discomfort and avoids the hassle of having something attached to them following their procedure.  The addition of progressive tension sutures or quilting sutures does not add significant time to the procedure and post operative seromas or fluid collections have been rare.

Many plastic surgeons today utilize an electrocautery to perform a breast augmentation which allows for a clean dissection with minimal bleeding and thus, minimal to no bruising.  Early movement and anti-inflammatories such as ibuprofen will assist in achieving a rapid, comfortable recovery.

There is no good data or research to support the breast massage following breast augmentation.  There are surgeons that recommend breast massage and others that do not.  I have been performing breast augmentation for over twenty years and do not have my patients massage their breasts post op.  If an adequate pocket is created for a smooth, round implant, the implant will settle nicely over time as the tissues expand.  I have seen a very low rate of capsular contractures as well.
