I am 28 going on 29 years old and weigh 230 pounds 5'4'' or 5'5'', can I get gastric sleeve?
See a weight loss surgeon
Jan 17, 2018
You need to get an accurate weight and height, so see a weight loss surgeon. You will also need to have an evaluation of your blood work to see if you have issues with cholesterol or diabetes.  You are certainly close to the point of qualifying for most insurance. You could self pay for the surgery also.
I am 5'9", 230 pounds, would I be a good candidate for gastric sleeve - a nurse told me no.

While what you report is a BMI of 34, and may not be covered - often people think they are taller than they are and often they weigh more.  See a weight loss surgeon, get some labs and make certain that you qualify.  Good luck

First go with what your surgeon does most of, what they have the support for you, and what they like to do.  There are risks and benefits to all procedures, but the most important part of what you do is change how and what you eat.

Weight loss surgery is an excellent choice for you. You also need to change what and how you eat - as your diet led you to the weight that you now have.  Resolve to eat more fruits, and vegetables and less processed foods. Learn to cook. But yes, the surgery would be a great first step. Good luck
How is it possible to lose weight when I have hypothyroidism?
It isn't your thyroid
Nov 25, 2017
Thryroid is not the issue- what you eat is. How you eat is. First get your thyroid regulated with the help of your doctor. Next get your diet in order. Start with getting rid of highly processed foods- breads, pastries, chips, cookies.  Make certain that you daily get in 3 cups of vegetables (pre cooked) and lots of them. Increase fish to twice a week. You can keep track of calories if you like, but most don't do that over the long run - the best is something you can sustain. Decrease meat a...

Most states cover weight loss surgery through Medicaid. You meet the criteria that most states would follow. They may ask you to undergo some tests and a physician supervised diet prior to surgery. Check with a local weight loss surgeon for more details.
