Breast Feeding with Breast Implants

Generally breast implants do not negatively affect a woman’s ability to breast feed.

This is due to the fact that the implant does not disrupt the glands and ducts necessary to breast feed, especially when implants are placed in the sub-pectoral region (under the muscle).

Too old for breast augmentation.

If you are in good health you can get a breast augmentation at almost any age. As you mentioned you may also require a lift.

But it is never too late to start feeling better about your body. Be sure to see a board certified plastic surgeon to get the right plan for your body.

30 years old, 1 child, getting silicone implants. Do I need a lift or can I get away with just big implants?

Unfortunately the decision to pursue large implants will only lead to disappointing results and I would strongly recommend a breast lift with much more appropriately sized implants.

This will not only improve your breast shape, volume, and symmetcy, but your results will also last for a longer period of time.

Implants Above or Below

The bottom line is this: would you mind if you could see rippling or the outline of the implant in the upper and inner breast region, i.e. the ‘fake look’? If you wouldn’t, then by all means get them placed in the subglandular position.

If you don’t want a ‘fake look’, but instead want a softer look in the upper pole region, with the least risk of rippling and capsular contracture, then you should consider subpectoral placement. However, subpectoral placement will cause a decrease in strength to your pectoralis muscles that may last for a few months to a year or more.

Clinic For Plastic Surgery

Although animation deformity is a potential problem, it is least likely in smaller augmentations done with the dual plane technique, which releases some muscle form the overlying gland!

Benefits of augmentation and lift

I would agree that you look like your breast option is an appropriate sized implant accompanied by a breast lift (so called augmentation mastopexy).

If you have an implant alone you will either end up with implants sitting lower on your chest or breast tissue virtually hanging off your implants. Talk about your options with your plastic surgeon who should guide you to what is your best option for breast surgery.

Expectations

You have breast deflation and minimal ptosis. You can have a breast augmenation alone, an augmentation with areolar reduction or an augmenation with a lift. The quality of the final result will depend on how you you do with the skin.
The first option will be ok in clothes and a bra but so, so out of a bra. The second option will be a bit better and the final option will give you the best result.

Only you can determine what your level of expectations are regarding the results. If you have high expectations, go for the best option. If your goals are more modest, you might be ok with a lesser option.

Breast implants without breast lift

Its a guess at this time as there will be changes after you stop lactating, but my guess is that a lift will be required with the impalnt due to native breast location and nipple location.

Leaking Implants Should Be Removed

You should have your leaking implants removed. There is no “firm” evidence that silicone gel itself causes problems in humans, but it is thought by some that silicone gel may have an adjuvant effect, meaning it may push an individual with the tendency towards disease “over the edge” encoruaging expression of that disease.
This is very hard to prove.

Weight gain and breast implants

Unfortunately ,the weight gain that you have experienced is not likely due to the implants. Even large implants will only add a few pounds to your frame. As we age, our metabolism changes, and I would guess that this weight is largely unrelated to your surgery.

Keep exercising. This will make you feel better physically and give you confidence.

As long as it could stay if it were still inflated

It cannot cause harm. It is in fact no different now than it was when it was full of saline. The pocket may close and it may be difficult to retire your breast shape if you wait too long, but the implant shell itself won’t harm you.

Recovery Following Breast Augmentation

All aspects of your breast augmentation, including the recovery time, are influenced, in large part, by your selection of a surgeon.

If you are considering a breast augmentation it is very important that you select a surgeon who is properly trained and highly experienced in the procedure of breast augmentation.

Your surgeon will have developed, over time, a very effective way not only to perform the augmentation but to manage your postoperative recovery. The best way for you to reduce your recovery time is to follow the directions of your surgeon.

You will be given direction regarding the movement of your arms and shoulders, the position that you sleep in and the type of bra that you wear afterward. If you follow these directions then your recovery time should not be prolonged.
The pain or discomfort that could follow a breast augmentation is normally controlled well by the pain medicines prescribed by your surgeon. If you follow the directions of your surgeon you should probably expect to be recovered within three to four weeks after your procedure.

Fresh out of surgery

It’s only been on week – you are definately swollen. Give yourself time to heal. Keep your follow ups with your dotor and keep the lines of communication open. You will see a difference within a few months.

Saline Breast Implants and Improving Technology: Is there anything new out there for breast implants

In the United States, saline breast implants are still very popular and are often the first choice for women who are seeking primary breast augmentation. Silicone is not always the best first option for women with normal amounts of breast tissue.
Saline implants continue to improve in terms of their design and risk of complications including capsular contracture and leakage. There are some newer studies in Europe that employ medications to decrease the risk of capsular contracture in the postoperative setting.

As for emerging technology… If you are planning saline or silicone breast augmentation, an experienced plastic surgeon should discuss the realized risks and benefits of proceeding with surgery vs. waiting five to ten years for newer advancements.

Why do same size breast implants look different on some women than on others?

Your observation is correct. The other doctors have explained it well. Here is another way to look at it. Patient A has a breast diameter of 15 cm and Patient B has a breast diameter of 12 cm.

Dr. Sam Sukkar MD FACS Plastic Surgery Houston TX

The implant is 13 cm in diameter. It could be too small for Patient A or too large for Patient B. There are many other factors that go into selecting an implant for each individual patient, but that is a very basic way of looking at size differences.

I’m happy to hear that you are doing some research, but an in person consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon, will help close the gap in the information for you.

Breast asymmetry: time and managment with implants for augmentation

It often takes 6-9 months for breasts to settle. This can be especially true if interventions to correct pre-existing asymmetry. If I have performed breast asymmetry operations, I will typically ask patients to wait at least 6-9 months before contemplating any revisionary procedures.
