Hi searchingforanswers! It is possible to perform areola reduction in males, just as it is in females. The main downside of the surgery is the potential scarring. A 30mm diameter areola is not especially large but the surgery is definitely possible – I suggest that you make an appointment with a plastic surgeon to discuss your concerns and the pros and cons of surgery. Thanks for your question, jeoff22. You don’t have to worry, plucking hairs does not cause side effects with dermal fillers or botulinum toxin. The main relevant restriction is that you can’t have injectables administered if you have an active infection at the site of the injection, but it’s not likely that plucking hairs would result in an infection.

Thanks for your question! It’s not the norm for botulinum toxin to last for 8 weeks – that’s a rapid return of movement and is significantly faster than normal. It may be that you have fairly large muscles in the treatment area and so that the dose that you have received is relatively less than required.

I suggest considering two options:

1. trial a higher dose of botulinum toxin for your next injection – the larger your muscles in the treatment area, the higher the dose should be…

If you’re not happy with the results of the shave removal it’s entirely reasonable to consider excision – although it could also be reasonable to have it shaved again, although a little deeper this time to prevent it growing back raised. Deep shaves are more likely to clear the mole more satisfactorily, although they take a little longer to heal and have a slightly increased risk of scarring because more of the dermal (regenerative) cells are taken from the area.

I recommend that you don’t pluck these hairs, as doing so may cause additional inflammation and add to any scarring that results from the procedure. It sounds as though you’ve had a shave removal of the mole, which will help to flatten the mole that was there but will not remove all the hairs from the area.

Allow time for your skin to heal over the wound, and after that you can resume plucking the hairs. In the meantime keep the wound moist with vaseline, and you can use bandaids over…
