Breast implants rupture risk

Breast implant shell is very strong and does not rupture from heavy activity. However, like any other material with time there is fatigue of the shell followed by rupture. TAKE A METAL PAPER CLIP AND MOVE IT BACK AND FORTH EVANTUALLY IT EILL BREAK.

That is metal fatigue. Nothing is forever. With time we will need new vessels (BYPASS), new joints, new pacemakers and those with implants will need NEW IMPLANTS.

Implant removal

Generally, implant removal can be done as an outpatient procedure in 1 hour under loval IV sedation. I would consult with another board certified plastic surgeon in your area that you are comfortable with.

Implant Sizes

If you tried the 500cc implants and felt that the volume was good for you and you are looking for a small D cup, the implants that your PS suggested are probably appropriate. I also agree with submuscular placement of your implants.

Implant choice and placement of implant Is this size implant appropriate

Very nice body features. I can best answer this question with a case that is attached with similar features. If you are wanting to be somewhat larger than this case, then the 650 cc will be good for you.

You want to be a D cup but remember, as the cup size increases, then the cc’s needed to advance to the next cup also increases.

For example to go from a B to a C, then you might need to add 200 cc’s. to go from a C to a D, you might need to add 300 cc’s etc. I would not be afraid of this implant choice whatsoever. Some ps’s are more reserved and recommend smaller implants when the patient wants to be a D cup.

It sounds like your ps is listening. I actually like the choice. Remember that 15 cc’s is a tablespoon so if you take the case attached where she used 475 cc’s…and add 175 cc’s, then you will be increasing by about 12 tablespoons.

Put water measuring 12 tablespoons on a saucer and you will see that when spread over the diameter of the implant (hence the saucer suggestion), there is really no biggie in change when one considers a patient wants to be in the D cup category.

Please remember that you will have fullness above the nipple complex but your statement about “upper pole fullness” is probably meaning that you do not want the implants high on the chest wall. Always under the muscle in my practice.

You should be very happy.

Can leaking silicone implants cause problems in your joints?

I have been one of the investigators for silicone breast implants and I can tell you that silicone is completely benign and does not cause any diseases or medical problems. Silicone implants are approved by the FDA and are considered completely safe.

Any implant can leak, of course, and a leaking implant needs to be replaced. But a leaking silicone implant is only a local mechanical problem that is corrected by replacing the implant.

Leaking silicone in the implant pocket will not cause any problems in your joints or anywhere else.

Breast implants and weight gain

Breast implants are not known to cause weight gain or weight retention. The only “weight gain” you should see would be the actual weight of the implants.

Lift or implant alone?

My opinion is that you would do well with an implant alone. Remember, you can always do a lift at a later time if it becomes necessary. It is also my opinion that a 400 cc implant would be more than you need and can potentially lead to further surgery down the road – probably a lift.

A 300cc implant, or thereabout , should give you an excellent result.

Transaxillary breast implants make symmetry harder to get

Transaxillary implants are harder, but not impossible to get symmetric. Compared to a periareolar or inframammary incision, the implant is being positioned by the surgeon from a greater distance. Therefore, symmetry is harder to achieve; intraoperative adjustments are more difficult to make.

Stands to reason. What’s wrong with a periareolar incision? It makes the best scar, and is only visible to a few people compared to the axilla (armpit) on the beach.

Why make a predictable operation unpredictable?

What To Expect After Breast Implants

Sounds like you have been doing some good research before having an augmentation. All of the factors you mentioned make a difference. Obviously some people experience more pain than others. But other factors come into play.

An implant placed over the muscle usually hurts less than one placed under the muscle. A smaller implant that stretches the tissue less may also cause less pain. The choice of doctor (and hence the technique) makes a bigger difference with respect to the post-op appearance but probably doesn’t make much difference regarding pain.

Ultimately most people recover quickly and the pain is not a long term issue.

What Are Symptoms of Silicone Poisoning from Breast Implants?

Silicone poisoning does not exist as a disease entity. There has been no study that shows that silicone from implants leak into the bloodstream. Many different medical devices contain silicone.

Perkier breasts

Implants alone will only add volume to your breasts. They will do nothing to give you a perkier look. I think that you will need a breast lift if you want a perkier look.

The goals of a breast lift are to elevate the nipple/areola to its “ideal” location as well as to tighten up the skin under the breast that supports the breast tissue. This could be done with or without the addition of breast implants if you want to go to a larger cup size.

Choosing cup size

The concern about going too small is very prevalent, but on the other hand if you choose implants that are too big the risks of complications increases. This is why it is important to select the implants in consultation with an experienced plastic surgeon.
