Breast implants and extreme changes in altitude

Breast implants are very durable and resilient products. They will not be affected by altitude changes( i.e in an airplane) or under the sea while scuba diving.

Silicone breast implants feels more natural

When you schedule your consultation with a plastic surgeon, you should be able to hold and feel a silicone and saline implant. Most patients tend to choose silicone because they do feel more natural. Saline implants are often described as feeling like a stiff water balloon.

Saline or silicone

In the UK we mainly use silicone implants as there is much less risk of deflation (leaking) and palpable rippling of the implants. However all the patients with saline implants that I have seen have had a great results.

So if your surgeon gets good results and is used to using saline implants then you should also get a great result.

It appears that you would be a good candidate for a breast lift. A breast lift would reposition your nipples and reshape your breasts, giving them a more youthful appearance.

A Breast Lift and Reduction Are Imperative

You will not do well with implants alone. Regardless of how you scar elsewhere on your body, the breast is a very forgiving place to put incisions. More importantly, you need to get symmetry and optimize shape, something that can’t be done with implants alone, and would require an asymmetric lift and unilateral reduction.
Go see a few ABPS certified/ASAPS member surgeons that specialize in all types of cosmetic breast surgery, not just implants. !.

Time off/bed rest after breast augmentation?

For a sedentary job (receptionist) without a physically demanding component, you should be able to return to work within a few days of your surgery. You will still be sore and may find that the 6 hour shift seems too long at first, but there is no contra-indication to returning to work soon after the surgery.

Is 377cc too small?

Honestly, I don’t believe they will be too small for your frame, especially if you want to achieve a natural look. I would also advise you that going larger will put you at an increased risk for multiple revisions caused by larger implants.
I’m really surprised that I am one of very few that discuss complications such as: malposition, capsular contracture, chronic pain, nipple numbness, irreversible soft tissue damage, skin stretch deformities, etc. Breast implants are not life time devices and are responsible for 30% revision rates in women who have them.

Round breast implants can offer lovely, natural-looking results.

Achieving an authentic look with breast augmentation depends on implant profile as well as placement. The profile measures how far the implant projects from the chest wall. Breast implants that have a low to moderate profile offer the most natural appearance, whereas high profile implants may leave you with a more dramatic result.

Submuscular placement also contributes to a natural look, as the breast tissue can offer more coverage of the implant for a subtler outcome. In terms of cleavage, that will depend on your specific anatomy, which needs to be evaluated in person.
Consult with a board-certified plastic surgeon who specializes in breast augmentation for best results.

Implant size- dispute with the prospective surgeon

If you want to have implants larger than your body can accommodate, have frequent revisional surgeries and appear unnatural, that’s certainly your right. However something with the doctor must have resonated with you for you to choose him over others who wanted to place a larger implant.

When significant doubts arise before an elective cosmetic surgery, it’s best to postpone the surgery until you decide what you really want, and take the time to understand the doctor’s concerns about going with a larger size.

It possible that the doctor may actually have a pretty good reason for his recommendation.

Not an emergency, but should be done

If you have an “extracapsular” rupture of an old silicone implant with extravasated gel in the tissues or lymph nodes, it is best to have the implants and capsules removed and as much of the escaped gel excised as would be safe to remove.

There is no known danger from the material so it is not wise to get close to vital structures in an effort to remove all ofthe gel that have traveled into the armpit for example.

Most women choose replacement for leaking Saline implants

Your options are: leave as is replace now replace later remove Most women choose replacement. The deflation of a saline implant is typically easy to notice by loss of volume, collapse and rippling over one to a few days time.
The saline solution used is the same that is given through an IV drip if you’ve ever had one for hydration, delivery or a hospital stay. Replacement of a deflated saline implant is typically a short surgery with recovery that is easier than the initial placement surgery (augmentation).

Exercises will not help.

Most natural looking: moderate profile or high profile.

When we look at implants as far as trends, the high profile implants are relatively new and do have a rather implant look for some depending on how much breast tissue is available to cover the implant to prevent show through and rounding.

Some surgeons have embraced the trend and use them most often. Some have not and prefer the more moderate offerings. We suspect surgeons use what they feel their patients want and what they think looks good.
