Having the implants under the muscle will cause release of a few of the muscle attachments, which in turn could cause some degree of weakness of the pectoral muscles. Although under the muscle technique reduces the risk of capsular contracture and may feel and look more natural, the pecs muscles will have to be released. The down time is around 4-6 months before you can return to your sport, depending on your rate of healing.
