How to treat malar festoons?
Festoon Treatment
Apr 8, 2023
Unfortunately the best treatment for malar festoons is prevention. Festoons can actually be worsened by lower blepharoplasty as the lower blepharoplasty can worsen swelling/fluid accumulation in the area if you are prone to festoons. Patients undergoing lower blepharoplasty who have pre-existing festoons or are prone to fluid accumulation in the area should be treated with steroids both intra-op (IV steroids) and post-op (oral steroids) and /or diuretics. Persistent malar festoons that cause…
I am confused – would I benefit more from a facelift or fillers?
Both
Apr 8, 2023
The simple answer is both would do well (ideally together). As we age, many individuals get both excess skin/laxity and lose volume and the volume we have descends (this is why people get “jowls”, deep nasolabial folds, malar descent..). Based upon the photos, you appear to be in need of additional volume as well as re-positioning of your facial tissues and removal of the excess skin. The face lift alone will provide long-term relief (up to 10 years) of resolution of excess skin/laxity and…
Male facelift incision: why risk a scar in front of the ear?
Good Question
Apr 8, 2023
So the simple answer is that the most “hidden” scar is a post-tragal incision, i.e., one that is behind the tragus. This is the incision that is typically used in women. In men this can be an issue as the beard can be brought back onto/into the tragus, which is not preferable in men. The way around this is to either: 1. physically remove the hair follicles on the portion of the skin that is brought onto the tragus (the risk of this is that by thinning out the tissue you have a higher risk of…
Can I have a facelift at the same time as cheek implant removal?
Possible
Apr 8, 2023
Hello, removal of the implant is the most important priority. It should noted that when you have an infection there is inflammation, swelling, scar tissue…this can all impact the appearance of the face and can compromise the results of a face lift. It is certainly possible to perform a face lift at the same time as the implant removal (this saves time/cost as you will have fewer surgeries). However, it probably makes sense to have the implant removed, allow the infection/inflammation to…
Do I need a neck lift?
Neck Lift
Apr 7, 2023
Losing substantial amounts of weight can unfortunately lease so excess skin/laxity if the skin does not retract (shrink) substantially following weight loss. It appears that you have significant skin laxity/excess. Of note, there also appears to be some platysmal banding as well. Unfortunately, based upon your photos, I would recommend a neck lift with a platysmaplaty as this will provide the best chance for providing the results you seek. Unfortunately other possible treatments (CO2 Laser,…
Do I need a lower face & neck lift?
Neck lift
Apr 7, 2023
Hello, unfortunately you appear to have substantial excess neck skin/laxity) on the frontal view (of note, lateral/side views are just as important if not more so for diagnosis/treatment purposes when it comes to the neck). Based upon this photo I would recommend a neck lift to remove the excess skin. Unfortunately I do not believe that less invasive measures (laser, Radiofrequency treatments) will provide the results you may seek. Hope this helps!
Want to explant 420cc, under muscle saline implants – do I also need a lift?
Possibly
Apr 7, 2023
The short answer is it depends. Depends on the quality of your tissue and your goals. Of note, the two breasts are fairly asymmetric (for example: Left Nipple-areolar complex is much lower than the right side). If you desire symmetric breasts following explant you will unfortunately need a bilateral lift. However, if you do not mind asymmetry, you may not need one. There are two possible options following implant removal: the first is to remove the implants and perform the lift (the benefit…
Breast implant ruptured. Is it realistic to get them removed and replaced all at once?
Yes
Apr 6, 2023
The short answer is that re-augmentation is possible. The important question is how long ago did the rupture occur? Following rupture of saline implants the breast will be come completely deflated. This can lead to symmetry issues when re-augmentation is performed because the interim (i.e., during the time between rupture and re-augmentation) the deflated breast will begin to shrink and the breast tissues will contract. This is a problem because when re-augmentation is performed the breast…
What type of incisions can I anticipate with a neck and facelift procedure?
Neck/Face lift incisions
Apr 6, 2023
Hello, there are multiple incisions used for the face lift and the neck lift. Starting with the face lift there is an incision that starts either in or adjacent to your hairline/sideburns above your ears. This incision is then typically taken just adjacent to your ear (“pre-auricular” incision). This incision is then continued adjacent to the ear around the earlobe and the posterior ear (“post-auricular” incision). The neck lift has two incision: the first is a continuation of the…
Is it possible to get a fat embolism 5+ years after a BBL?
Unlikely
Apr 6, 2023
Hello, while anything is possible, it is unlikely to have a fat embolism 5+ years following a BBL. Fat emboli during a BBL, while exceptionally rare, can occur during a BBL. When they do occur, they would likely occur during the actual fat injection into the buttock, and/or during the liposuction aspect. Fat emboli can occur from injuries to veins (blood vessels). Following injury, negative pressure in the veins can lead to fat entering the veins and circulation. When this occurs during the…
Why do my eyes look like this in all my pictures? (Phtoo)
Ptosis Repair
Apr 6, 2023
Hi, after reviewing your photos it appears you may have a condition known as ptosis. Ptosis is defined as “drooping” of the eyelids. This is why your upper eyelid is further down on the globe than it should be. There are different etiologies for ptosis. The most common cause is due to a weakening/laxity of the muscle that elevates (opens) the upper eyelid known as the levator muscle. It can less commonly be due to nerve palsy, can be a congenital issue, due to trauma, or due to acquired…
