Lips can be reduced in the size. The mucous membrane (red skin of the lip) and part of the underneath tissues are removed by surgery and then stitched. The stitches can be removed after a week after the surgery. The surgery can be done either under local anesthesia or local with sedation.

If the recommendation is “Removal” – you should get it removed. It will leave a scar. A plastic surgeon will try and leave as small a scar as possible.
