Breast Implants: Info, Prices, Photos, Rewiews, Q&A

There are many factors that go into your decision with regards to choosing saline or silicone gel-filled breast implants in Utah. There are pros and cons which each implant brings. In general, gel implants are a bit softer than saline implants.

There is also a significantly lower chance of being able to feel the implant if it is gel-filled. Sometimes saline implants can be felt in a thin woman on the lower outer aspect if a behind the muscle implant has been placed.

Often this is because there is not a lot of muscle in this particular region. This can bother some women but not others. Some pros of saline implants in Utah include a shorter scar, usually a lesser cost, and sometimes can shape the breast better for certain individuals.

Your plastic surgeon will help guide you through the selection process. In general I find that gel implants saver a smaller thin woman who is looking for mild to moderate enhancement.

If you are starting with more breast tissue or need more superior fullness in your breast or desire a larger cup size, sometimes saline implants perform better.

What size breast implants ?

The difference between 300 and 250 cc amounts to three and one third tablespoons. Distributed across your entire breast, the difference will be difficult to distinguish. Regardless, volume is not as important as dimensions.

Is the 300cc implant wider, or does it project more? Or both wider AND project more? What look do you want? Technique of augmentation influences final result more than precise size.
Even using identical technique and assuming that 250-300 cc is your preferred magnitude of augmentation, no RealSelf physician is qualified to make a decision about your body for you, and there is no better (250 vs 300), just different. In the end, the decision is, and should be yours.

It is the surgeon’s responsibility to educate you sufficiently that YOU can make the best informed decision for yourself..

The choice of implants depends upon numerous factors including your general anatomy and your volume requests. But you might need wider implants to help with the lack of cleavage..

Breast augmentation without a lift?

Without being able to see you in person and do a physical exam, it is impossible to be absolutely certain, but I can give you my advice based on your photos.

For the majority of patients that I have seen with breasts that look similar to your photos, I have recommended a lift along with an augmentation. You have lost volume that will definitely be improved by adding an implant, however the position of your nipple-areola is very low and, in my opinion, you would require a lift for the best result possible.
I would encourage you to schedule a consultation with several board certified plastic surgeons in your area. Find a surgeon that has experience with breast lift and augmentation that you feel comfortable with, and who has multiple before and after photos that you like that demonstrates their experience with this complex procedure.

AGE

You stated you are in good health. I would think you would be an excellent candidate for breast surgery. Please consult with a plastic surgeon in your area.

Breast Implant replacement through the axilla

Implant replacement with removal of the complete capsule is technically very difficult through the axilla. Some doctors use an endoscope that make the surgery possible. Also, the capsule may or may not need to be removed or modified.
This is an individual requirement. Capsulotomies might be able to be done blindly through the armpit. In general, plastic surgeons do warn patients that if they have the implant placed through the transaxillary incision, later revisions might require a second incision.

Can I get away with implants without a lift?

I am asked this question on almost a daily basis in my practice and I’ve also seen a number of patients who have tried to “avoid a lift” and another surgeon has convinced them that this was possible with large implants.

Unfortunately, when your nipple has drifted below the level of the inframammary fold, a lift is unavoidable for an aesthetically pleasing shape. Without a lift and just implants alone, your breasts will look matronly–overly large and droopy.
I can’t tell you how many women I’ve seen who are extremely dissatisfied with the results of an augmentation alone when their original surgeon should have done a lift at the same time. The good news is that your inframammary fold is still relatively high which will allow for a nice degree of lift.

Scars do take up to 18 months to fully mature but they do improve over time. The vertical breast scar is the one that patients are the most apprehensive about, but it is the scar that heals the best.

It is important to consult with at least 2 board certified plastic surgeons (not cosmetic surgeons) to discuss your options in more detail. An in-person exam is the only way to verify which procedure(s) are best suited to you.

Breast lift

It would be best to undergo the lift with an implant if you want more volume. If you don’t have the lift, your nipples would end up in the lower pole of the implants which is not ideal.

Lift

To give an accurate answer you really need an in person examination so go on some consults .

Short answer is yes but it depends on how big you want to be.

The short answer is yes, but it all depends on the filling volume that you already have. The company recommendation in general is to slightly over fill saline implant. This leaves you with a small margin (25-50cc) of augmentation.

In my practice I know that a bigger size request means that at least 100 cc or more will be needed. Repeat surgery in general means repeat risk and i would only do it if there is a good benefit.
Cost of silicone gel implants in Utah

Different opinions for breast surgery options

There is often more than one acceptable way to “skin a cat” (as it were). While you gave the 3 different options by the surgeons, you never stated what YOUR GOALS were. Therefore, this is a difficult question for the surgeons at Realself to answer.

As I look at your pictures, you do have a considerable amount of “sagging”. If you were to have a formal breast lift, your areolar size could be reduced, your nipples could be positioned at the apex of the breast, and you would restore your upper breast fullness– very likely you would feel “larger” even without implants, because your breasts would not be as spread out.
For the best long term shape (something you did mention that you wanted), my thoughts would be to do a lift, and then wait and see what you think. If you still wanted more volume, it would be a simple matter to add implants 4-5 months down the line, and at that point your breasts would have a good shape, which you mentioned you don’t want to sacrifice.

One last question: in a good supportive bra (not padded), are you (currently) happy with your breast volume? If the answer to that is yes, then you definitely are looking for a lift, not implants.

Implants

You will be an excellent candidate with sub muscular breast implants. Moderate plus or high profile gel implants appropriate.

No need to exchange breast implants every ten years

Modern gel (silicone; gummy bear; form stable, etc.) carry lifetime warranty and do not need to be exchanged unless there is a problem. Saline implants only need to be changed if there is a problem, but they tend to fail after about ten years, usually due to what is called crease-fold failure.

It is critically important that you see a surgeon certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery.

400 cc implants

Yes, it is possible, but you would have to be evaluated in person to determine what your dimensions are and how thick your tissues are and how much stretch you have in the tissues.

Implant placement

There are two general categories as to how breast implants arte placed:

1 Above the pectoralis muscle
2 Below the pectoralis muscle
The second alternative (below the muscle) has some variations as to wether other muscles are used to cover the lower and side parts of the implant.

Above the muscle looks great and is less painful but has a higher rate of capsular contracture (tightening around the breast). Under the muscle is more painful (which can be minimized by use of a pain pump), but has a softer look in the upper part of the implant.

Under for long-term results

Placing the implants in Utah under the muscle is best for a multitude of reasons — less interference on mammograms, better coverage over the implant, less visability, lower rate fo cpasular contracture, etc). The only draw back may be that they are a bit more compressed and so they may not produce quite as much immediate cleavage (fixed with a bra!) and they will move when you flex your muscle (might notice that a little with weight lifting).
From your pic, you may need a lift someday as well. I just feel that implants over the muscle will give you a short term fix, but will ultimately result in costly revisions.

Moderate plus vs high profile

The profile is based on your chest width and the volume you chose. If you chose a big volume but have a narrow chest, a high profile implant will be used so that you don’t have an excess of breast on the side.

As you go smaller in volume, the profile (projection) gets less so then you get into the moderate profile range.

Implants vs lift to correct saggy breasts

Thank you for your photo. An augmentation will make yor breasts worse. You have huge nipple areolar complexes and an augmentation will further enlarge them. I would do a 2 stage procedure:
1. a short scar breast lift with areolar complex reduction in size and
2.an augmentation 6-12 months after the lift if you would like to be larger. See a board certified plastic surgeon for a thorough consultation..

Cohesive gel is available in the United States.

Gel implants manufactured by Inamed or Mentor are cohesive. They are easily available. I would recommend that you have surgery by the surgeon you trust the most and have access to in the event of any post-operative problems.

Breast implant sizing

Decision on the size of a breast implant in my view should be determined by the patient with input from the surgeon. I have all of my patients try on implants in my office but tell them that I want only to use implants that fit their breasts.
In more than 20 years using this method, I have had very few patients who desired a change in sizes.

Signs of capsular contracture following breast augmentation

Capsular contracture is a very common risk of breast augmentation surgery in Utah. This can occur at any point after your original surgery. Generally, the breast will remain firm and the implant will appear high on the chest wall.

As a capsule forms, it tries to shrink the implant to the smallest diameter possible which is a sphere. Your operative surgeon should be able to help you determine if you have developed a capsule.

Recovery after breast augmentation in UT

Your breast and nipple position was a concern for your surgeon. I would recommend that you follow his suggestions in order to maximize the need for revision. A compression or elastic band on the upper pole of the breast usually helps.
