Ideally, straightening your teeth with clear aligners prior to veneering/crowning would allow for less tooth preparation and greater aesthetic outcome. However, if you are refusing orthodontic treatment, than yes you can get a great improvement with veneers and crowns on the upper and lower teeth. It would need to come with understanding that those teeth will require a much greater amount of tooth reduction and the possibility of needing root canal treatment if the nerves get inflamed. ...

In short, yes, if the current shape is to your liking than a pre scan or impression can be taken of your existing veneer for the ceramist to follow to the tee. However, even with this step added it can never be guaranteed that your retainer will fit properly but it is definitely worth a try.

I agree that your 8 veneers do in fact appear "bulky". I would suggest having them redone and to add more softness to the smile with more incisal embrasure space with rounded edges and better proportional sizing of the teeth based the true golden proportion principle of the anterior teeth. Most likely there is residue from the bonding cement. The back of your tooth should feel the same as prior to treatment. There will be a difference, however, in how the smooth porcelain would feel vs natural tooth structure. But, to me this sounds like you should return to the dentist to evaluate and to see if there is bonding residue present that can easily be removed and polished.

Based off of the panoramic x ray all that we can appreciate is that you appear to be in good oral health and no obvious signs of pathology nor disease. One of the requirements for cosmetic porcelain veneers is that the health of the bone, gums and teeth are optimal as that is the foundation of the veneers.
